Redmi Note 15 Pro vs Note 17 Pro: The older model takes better photos
The newer Redmi Note 17 Pro is already on sale too, but Xiaomi cut corners on the camera. The Note 15 Pro 5G has a 200 MP Samsung sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size. The Note 17 Pro got a 50 MP ISOCELL JN sensor that measures only 1/2.76 inches. In area, it is roughly a quarter of the sensor in the Note 15 Pro. A smaller sensor captures less light, and the difference is especially visible after dark. They also differ in video: the Note 15 Pro records in 4K at 30 frames per second, while the Note 17 Pro maxes out at Full HD.
That’s also confirmed by the Notebookcheck review. The main camera on the Note 17 Pro is described as a big disappointment for Redmi fans. In the dark it struggles to focus, and zoomed shots are weak. In the same test, Note 17 Pro also falls behind the older model in graphics performance.
Note 17 Pro has a bigger battery, 8 340 mAh, and faster 67 W charging. Note 15 Pro has 6 580 mAh and 45 W. If you care more about photos and video than a two-day battery, go for Note 15 Pro. In the same version 8 + 256 GB, with our coupon it’s also cheaper.
Design and display: Big AMOLED with 1.5K
Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G builds on the modern trend of a flat display and feels clean and “more premium” in everyday use. The highlight is a large 6.83″ AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution 2772 × 1280 px and a 120 Hz refresh rate, making animations and scrolling feel nicely smooth.
You’ll also like the 12-bit color reproduction and top local brightness up to 3200 nits, which helps readability in direct sunlight. From a gaming and fast-gesture perspective, the 5G version also has an edge in touch sensitivity—touch sampling is up to 480 Hz, while cheaper models in the series typically go lower.

Battery and charging: Si-C technology and reverse charging
One of the biggest changes compared to last year’s generations is the battery. Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G uses a modern silicon–carbon battery with a capacity of 6580 mAh, which is an excellent foundation for long battery life even in 120 Hz mode with active 5G connectivity.
Wired charging stays at 45 W—while that’s a conservative number, it’s still a practical speed for everyday life. However, a very useful reverse charging feature via cable has been added. Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G can charge other devices with up to 22.5 W, which is handy for earbuds, a smartwatch/bracelet, or a second phone.
Performance and memory: Dimensity 7400-Ultra
Power is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Ultra chipset. It’s a mild generation-to-generation evolution with higher CPU clocks and NPU improvements for AI calculations—exactly the direction smartphones are heading today. More intelligent features right in the mobile and faster day-to-day system performance.
You’ll get configurations with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. For everyday use, 8 GB is still perfectly fine, but if you’re more demanding with multitasking or plan to use the phone for years, 12 GB of RAM is, in our opinion, the best choice.

Cameras: 200 MP main sensor and 8 MP ultra-wide
Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G comes with a main 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size and an f/1.7 aperture. It’s designed to be a universal foundation for both day and night photography. There’s no telephoto lens, but thanks to the high resolution, it can handle up to 4× zoom using crops from the sensor with decent quality. Optical image stabilization (OIS) is, of course, included.
It’s complemented by a 8 MP ultra-wide camera with the OV08F10 sensor, suited for landscapes, architecture, and group shots.
On the front, there’s a 20 MP selfie camera OV20B, a solid base for social media and video calls.
Durability, stereo, and HyperOS 2.0 with AI features
A big plus is durability: Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G has certifications IP68 and IP69K, so it can handle dust and water at a high level. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support are also included, improving video watching and gaming without headphones.
The software runs on HyperOS 2.0 (an update to HyperOS 3.0 is a given), built on Android 15, and Xiaomi adds its own AI feature package. In practice, you can look forward to AI Erase Pro, AI Remove Reflection, AI Image Expansion, and AI Image Enhancement—photo editing tools right on your phone without needing extra apps.
