New information has surfaced about the long-awaited first tablet from the Redmi company. The reports relate to the processor being used, which has not been officially announced yet.
It was said that the Redmi Pad would arrive alongside the larger Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4, but that didn’t happen. That’s why we don’t currently know when the tablet itself might be presented. Apparently, it could happen together with the new-generation tablet codenamed Xiaomi Pad 6.
A new MediaTek processor
New information was brought by the MIUI Polska portal through the well-known informant Kacper Skrzypek, who found out that the tablet from the Redmi brand should be powered by a new MediaTek processor. It has the codename MT8781.
So we don’t know its commercial name, but based on the description, it’s a processor made with a 6-nanometer manufacturing technology. The graphics unit will be Mali G57 MC2. It’s used in a number of mid-range smartphones.
As for the processor’s specs themselves, they are very similar to the model Helio G99. It should also be found in the upcoming POCO smartphones, specifically the M5 and M5 Pro models.
What else can we expect?
The remaining specs have already been revealed, so we expect a 10-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2. In addition, it’s still not known whether the manufacturer will choose eMMC or IFS 2.2 storage.
There’s also talk of 6 GB of RAM and support for up to 67W fast charging. We should even get a 5G model. We don’t know much about the price, but it could be around €260, which would definitely be appealing.
It will likely be a less powerful and more budget version of the advanced Xiaomi tablets. There’s still the question of whether we’ll get it on the global market at all, but that possibility is still on the table. Either way, we definitely have something to look forward to.
