Premium design
As the name suggests, RedmiBook 16 is a laptop with a display diagonal of 16,1-inches. It’s the very first laptop from the Redmi brand with such a large display.
And there’s more—the display has only a 3.26 mm thick bezel on the sides and on top, creating a truly premium look. Thanks to this, the display makes up 90 % of the front area.
Its resolution is the standard 1920 x 1080 pixels, and it comes with a 100 % sRGB color gamut for professional display accuracy. The viewing angle is 178° and the maximum brightness is 300 nits.
The premium design is complemented by the build itself, made from a combination of plastic and aluminum. Despite the large display, the whole laptop weighs 1.8 kg, so traveling with it won’t be an issue.
The latest generation of AMD processors
With its laptops, the Redmi brand is already known for using affordable AMD processors. RedmiBook 16 is no exception—it comes with the newest AMD Ryzen 4000 chipset series.
Specifically, it’s equipped with an 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor, and in the more powerful version it gets a 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. Both models feature a 7 nm manufacturing process and a new Zen2 architecture, which should deliver up to 60-percent performance gains.
The laptop includes an integrated graphics chip, the AMD Radeon Graphics, coming with the new generation of Ryzen processors.
RedmiBoook 16 will be available in three hardware configurations with 8 GB or 16 GB DDR4 RAM, with all models getting a 512 GB SATA SSD storage.
Fast charging plus stereo speakers
The laptop comes with a 46 Wh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, provides up to 12 hours of FullHD movie playback without WiFi.
You also get 1C fast charging, which charges the battery to 50% capacity in just 38 minutes. Charging is done via a 65 W USB Type-C adapter.
The manufacturer didn’t forget stereo speakers either—RedmiBook 16 comes with two Realtek ALC256 speakers with a power of 2 W.
Connectivity and keyboard
On the connectivity side, the laptop includes WiFi with the 802.11ac standard and 2×2 MIMO technology, plus Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 2.0, 2 x USB Type-C (one for charging + data, the other for data only), HDMI 1.4 output, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
As for the keyboard, it has a key travel of 1,5 mm and uses a standard laptop-style keyboard, most likely without backlighting. The touchpad (clickpad) measures 125 x 81,6 mm and supports gesture control. Unfortunately, in this case it doesn’t include a fingerprint sensor.
On the software side, the laptop runs Windows 10 Home and includes a pre-installed Office suite.
