POCO F6 is a smartphone that is officially sold on the Slovak market as well. Looking at its specs from the start, you can immediately assume it’s again a great middle-ground focused mainly on performance, battery life, and fast charging.

The manufacturer, however, also made some trade-offs to keep the price more appealing. How do we like this phone? Find out in our review that’s just getting started.

Where to buy POCO F6?

As we already mentioned in the introduction, POCO F6 is also available from Slovak retailers, with a price starting at 460.80 € at the time of writing this review. The official price for the Slovak market is set at 479 € for the 12 / 512 GB memory variant. The exact same version is what we bought through our Chinese partner, and we saved a remarkable amount of money.

For example, through the DHgate platform you can order it from a European warehouse even cheaper. The price can drop slightly below the 300 € mark, which is practically an unbeatable deal. POCO F6 is produced in the black colorway we tested, and you can also get the green or titanium variant.

Platba cez DHgate: The platform has finally launched safe and reliable Google Pay payments! So now you don’t need to use Revolut / Wise cards for payment, and you can pay directly in EUR. We’d also like to remind you that orders from DHgate come with our VIP support, which you get after downloading our extension for the Chrome browser on desktop only (when shopping on a smartphone, you can use the DHgate app).

Are you shopping on DHGate for the first time?

The process is in the DHgate mobile app. The Buy Now button takes you straight from the product page to checkout, and the coupon box is all the way at the very end of the page—which is why most people miss it and pay the full price.

  1. Sign in and click Get the DiscountOn DHgate, create an account or log in—it also works via Google or Facebook. Then copy the coupon from our article and click the GET THE DISCOUNT button—it will open the exact product the code applies to.
  2. On the product page, click Buy NowDHgate redirects you from the product straight to checkout Place Order, and the cart is skipped. So before you click, check the variant—color, memory, and version.
  3. Fill in the address without diacritics and choose paymentAt the top of checkout, enter the delivery address—write your name, street, and city without accents and diacritics, otherwise the shipment may get stuck with the carrier. Then tap Select Payment Method. Also note the Ship from info—items shipped from the EU warehouse usually take days, and they don’t go through customs clearance.
  4. Scroll all the way down to the Coupon code lineThe coupon box is at the very end of the page, below the offer Buy It Together. Look for the line Coupon code with the text Enter code here and tap it.
Riadok Coupon code s textom Enter code here v pokladni aplikácie DHgate
You’ll find the Coupon code line only below the summary, above Order Total.
  5. Paste the code and confirm ApplyA window will open Use Promo Code. Paste the copied code into it and tap the yellow Apply. Enter the code exactly, including uppercase letters and without spaces.
Okno Use Promo Code so zadaným kupónom a tlačidlom Apply v aplikácii DHgate
Paste the code into the Use Promo Code window and confirm with the Apply button.
  6. Check the discount and payYou’ll see the applied coupon in the Saved line — when you open it, it will show as DH Coupon. Only when Order Total really lower, tap Confirm to pay.
Rozbalený riadok Saved s položkou DH Coupon v pokladni DHgate
After opening the Saved line, you can see the applied coupon as DH Coupon.
You only have about half an hour to pay. There’s a countdown on the Confirm to pay button — when it runs out, the order is canceled and you have to create it again. So enter the coupon before you start paying.
DHgate sometimes adds a discount automatically. The Saved line may already be filled in before you enter any code. After pressing Apply, compare the Order Total — if it didn’t go down, the code either wasn’t applied or it’s weaker than the discount DHgate gave you automatically.
Our extra service with VIP support — we’ll handle the order on DHgate for you and ship it straight to your address.

If you don’t have experience buying on DHgate, your payment won’t go through, or the coupon doesn’t work, we offer our readers and customers an order-handling service delivered directly to your address. You send us the money by bank transfer and we order the product straight to you. That way, you don’t have to worry about a failed payment or applying the coupon, and you can be sure the whole order goes through 100 % correctly. On top of that, you automatically get our VIP support — we handle any shipping issues for you and assist with warranty claims. The fee for this service is 15 € for the product price. In the box

Package contents are usually pretty generous with POCO devices. The box includes a powerful 90 W charging adapter with an European plug. It has a USB-A output. Of course, there’s also a cable with USB-A and USB-C connectors.

The manufacturer also includes a thin soft case in gray. We noticed that when this case is on the smartphone, the buttons on the right side are pressed noticeably easier, which can lead to unwanted interactions.

POCO F6 packaging

It’s a minor downside, but we’re very glad that basic protection for the phone is included at all. A screen protection film is applied to the display at the factory. We managed to damage it after a few days, and air bubbles formed as well, but we still appreciate the inclusion of at least this minimal level of display protection.

Design

POCO F6 features a fairly simple design, only accentuated by the huge camera lenses on the back. Of course, the sensors themselves aren’t that big—it’s purely a design element. You’ll have to decide for yourself whether you like how they look. We actually like it, but many people around us had exactly the opposite opinion. The downside is that dust tends to accumulate very easily around these lenses.

POCO F6

We don’t really worry too much about design in an affordable smartphone, but it’s still nice if the manufacturer plays around with it. What matters more to us at this price is the hardware inside the device – in this regard, POCO F6 probably won’t disappoint anyone. We’ll get to that a bit later. The whole construction is made of plastic, including the sides. In your hand, the smartphone can feel fairly cheap, but at the same time it’s solid.

POCO F6

Nothing rattles or feels unpleasantly flimsy. POCO F6 is a solid piece of plastic on the back and glass on the front. There’s also the IP64 certification, which means increased resistance to splashing water. Light rain shouldn’t cause any damage to the smartphone. A very pleasant surprise is the low weight of 179 grams. The matte plastic finish, besides lowering the weight, also brings other benefits—such as better durability compared to glass or glossy plastic. Also on the back of POCO F6, dirt isn’t really visible—for example, fingerprints, assuming you’re not obsessing over keeping dust away around the camera area.

Display, fingerprint scanner and speakers

With its display diagonal, POCO F6 fits right into the modern standard. It has 6.67 inches. The resolution 1220 x 2712 px is more than sufficient. Maximum brightness won’t disappoint either, especially considering the price. It’s characterized by practically flawless viewing angles.

POCO F6

With automatic brightness adjustment outdoors, you can reach 1200 nits, and when displaying HDR10+ content you get up to 2400 nits. Indoors, maximum brightness is mostly around 500 nits, based on the manufacturer’s specs. You’ll also appreciate support for Dolby Vision.

POCO F6

The panel supports a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. Depending on the app you’re using, it can also switch to 60 Hz to save power. In the display settings, you can force 120 Hz at all times if the app supports it. The display is protected by a durable glass—Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Color reproduction felt really good and true to life. You can fine-tune it further in the settings. We didn’t run into any issues, including regarding touch responsiveness.

POCO F6

We think its quality puts it in the 500 euro price category, and at a lower price it can be considered above average. Under the display, there’s an optical fingerprint scanner. In terms of speed and reliability, it’s better than several of its (even more expensive) competitors. Verification happens almost instantly, and we had only a minimum of unsuccessful attempts—if any at all.

POCO F6

The audio output of POCO F6 is handled by a pair of speakers located on the top and bottom edges. The sound is loud enough, but a bit flat, with only a slight hint of bass. You definitely won’t hear calls or notifications through it clearly. It’s fine for watching videos, but for a better experience we recommend using headphones. We also believe that in competing models sold at the same price as this smartphone, you get better speakers.

Power

POCO F6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. It was a genuinely pleasant surprise for us—not only in terms of performance, but also energy efficiency. The smartphone runs very fast and smoothly. We didn’t encounter any laggy responses or stuck animations. POCO devices are really focused mainly on performance, and the POCO F6 isn’t different. Great software tuning also helps.

You can also play more demanding games with high detail. There are two memory variants available—8 / 256 GB and 12 / 512 GB. We tested the second, better-equipped version. Storage is UFS 4.0, so you can expect high data transfer speeds. You can’t insert a memory card into the device, so think carefully about how much internal storage you’ll need.

Cameras

Honestly, we didn’t have very high expectations from cameras. If photo quality matters to you, smartphones from Xiaomi are a better choice—they offer better image processing software (Leica color processing) and also higher-quality hardware. But are the resulting shots from the POCO F6 usable? Absolutely. We were pleasantly surprised. The color rendering is great, and the detail level is mostly sufficient. Sometimes, though, details (for example in shadows) get completely lost, which doesn’t look very good. Dynamic range can be rich in some cases and in others it’s simply missing. The results vary from attempt to attempt when it comes to HDR and contrast.

POCO F6

That inconsistency is, however, easy enough to live with and shows up in more demanding conditions—for example when shooting against the sun. If you’re not among those who take demanding photos, the occasional shooting on the POCO F6 will serve you brilliantly. Photos from the ultra-wide lens are then relatively fine—it depends on the specific situation. Behind the main sensor, quality drops noticeably, but it’s still usable. Just make sure you have decent lighting conditions.

POCO F6

When creating night shots, try to hold the phone as firmly as possible – even slight hand shake can ruin the photo. If you manage to keep the device stable, the result is surprisingly good, sharp, and full of details. Sometimes all it takes to get a better picture is adding at least some artificial light source, especially when shooting indoors. Overall, there are definitely better camera phones, and if you’re specifically looking for a dedicated “photo phone,” you’ll have to pay extra. For around €300, POCO F6 can beat its competition, but for a Slovak price tag, it will be tougher.

POCO F6
Additional modes in the camera app

You can record video in 4K at 60 fps, and the output looks very nice for the price. The primary sensor is 50 MPx and it doesn’t lack optical image stabilization, which plays an important role especially when filming. The ultra-wide camera has 8 MPx, and in front there’s a 20 MPx camera. Its results are nicely sharp and overall high quality.

Battery and charging

POCO F6 has a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. Combined with a fairly power-efficient chipset, it delivers very good battery life. We were able to squeeze out even two days on one charge. Light users may even surpass that limit if they don’t use the phone too often during the day. For mid-range to heavy users, the POCO F6 will confidently last a full day. We’d lean more toward 1.5 days.

POCO F6

You can look forward to 4 – 6 hours with the screen on during demanding use. With regular use, you’ll get 6 – 9 hours of screen-on time. After a two-hour test of video playback on YouTube, the battery level dropped by 19%, which is a relatively good indicator of power consumption during continuous phone activity. With the included adapter, you can top up the POCO F6 in up to three-quarters of an hour.

Operating system

On the POCO F6, you’ll find the same user interface as on the significantly more expensive flagship models from the latest Xiaomi 14 lineup. If you’ve used MIUI in the past—especially MIUI 14—you won’t get lost in HyperOS. Visually, they don’t differ much, and the available features are also very similar, often even identical.

POCO F6

We’ve got a new font style (selected right during the phone’s initial setup) and also a redesigned control center. As we mentioned already, the system is extremely smooth and free of stutters. Once or twice we noticed a minor bug where, for example, we had a black screen for a moment, but it happened a few hours after the initial setup and then POCO F6 worked properly.

The manufacturer didn’t hold back on preinstalling a large number of apps. Most of them are games or social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok. In the included screenshots, you can see just how many apps are on the device after its initial setup. There are really way too many.

Connectivity

When it comes to connectivity, POCO F6 has pretty much everything today’s users generally need. Of course, it also supports the latest 5G networks. The presence of LTE band B20 is also covered. So the phone is fully compatible with networks of Slovak mobile operators – after all, it’s officially sold with us.

POCO F6

There’s Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC for mobile payments, and also globally used location services, including the classic GPS. You might also like the built-in infrared port for controlling supported electronics you have in your room.

The USB-C port on the bottom edge of the device is version 2.0 and supports OTG, for example for connecting external storage. The phone is dualSIM, and during our testing we didn’t have a single problem connecting to the mobile network or with calling.

POCO F6: Final assessment

Buying POCO F6 at the current offers from overseas sellers is almost like stealing. For that little money, you get an unusually large amount of value. The smartphone offers a very good display, great performance, and more than usable cameras with results that during the day can at least compete with other models in this price range. There are memory versions 8 / 256 GB and 12 / 512 GB. We’d dare to say that the base model will be enough for the vast majority of users. POCO F6 also won’t disappoint in terms of connectivity. The operating system is very smooth and packed with features you’ll enjoy exploring.

POCO F6

You can forgive the large number of preinstalled apps for this price. If you’re looking for an affordable smartphone, we see no reason not to recommend POCO F6 to you. If you manage to buy it for a price close to €300, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. It’s a bit worse at the official price in Slovakia, €479, where you can point out a few things about POCO F6 and other brands’ competition has to be taken into account as well. We have no doubt that POCO F6 will still be popular with plenty of people even at that price. When comparing models in the under-€500 category, you have to make compromises, but in some (if not most) parameters, POCO will still clearly come out on top.

POCO F6

A fully plastic build can feel a bit limiting, and the update policy is also somewhat less regular, with only average support (3 years of Android updates + 4 years of security updates). For example, Samsung or Google (with the Pixel “A” lineup) can offer more from a support standpoint. There are also more water-resistant devices on the market (IP67 / IP68), while this one has a lower certification of IP64. For a price category around ~€500, the cameras aren’t exactly the best, but take the foreign price into account, which is lower by roughly €200, and suddenly it becomes one of the best camera phones in this price segment. But that’s probably about it when it comes to things we could criticize about POCO F6. As you can see, the negatives are really hard to find.
