Xiaomi also offers an efficient and affordable speaker in its product lineup, called the Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar. It’s especially suitable for connecting to your TV, but also to a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop thanks to Bluetooth technology.
In the editorial office, we decided to test this speaker so we could evaluate for ourselves what features it truly offers.
Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar: Where to buy?
We bought the Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar speaker at a great price through the popular e-shop Banggood.com. The seller offers it in a Czech warehouse with fast delivery. In our case, it took only 6 days.

Packaging: A necessary starting point
The Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar arrives at our doorstep in a cardboard box with larger dimensions. It also includes a carrying handle, plus product images and basic technical specifications, but everything is in Chinese.
After unboxing, inside the layer of polystyrene you’ll find the soundbar itself, wrapped in protective film, along with a user manual in Chinese and a power cable (also with a Chinese plug). So for the cable you’ll still need to buy an adapter for our local power outlets.
In addition, the manufacturer included an optical audio sound cable, which lets you connect the soundbar to your TV. However, if your TV doesn’t support this connector, there are other solutions—but you’ll need to buy the cable separately.
Matte black color
In our case, the elegant speaker is made in a matte black color version. Its dimensions are listed as 83 x 7,20 x 8,70 cm, while the weight is just under two kilograms.
Those values make the speaker ideal for static placement on a TV stand or for mounting on the wall.
That’s also reflected in the back panel: in the package you’ll find a pair of screws and wall plugs. The static placement on the TV stand is then secured by non-slip rubber feet.
Solid build quality and sensible placement of components
The Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar really has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of its build— the manufacturer used textile and ABS plastic materials. It definitely looks more expensive than its current selling price, which is a great sign.
The front side, facing the users, features 8 speakers covered with a textile surface finish. It’s also matte black and looks very elegant. This layer also feels good to the touch.
The left and right edges are rounded and empty. On the lower edge, you’ll then only find rubber anti-slip feet that prevent the speaker from sliding around on the surface.
On the top edge there are the control elements. You get plastic buttons for volume adjustment and a row of buttons (including Bluetooth) to select the appropriate mode or connector through which your Mi TV Soundbar is connected to your device. The manufacturer logo is also included.
The back side shows the device’s connectivity. Besides the mentioned wall-mounting points, there’s also a button to turn the device on or off.
You’ll also find a group of connectors like CINCH, a 3,5 mm audio connector, or an optical connector that’s especially useful with newer TVs. There’s also a power port and the mandatory recycling information.
Connectivity: Wired and wireless connection
Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar is a speaker that offers a really wide range of connectivity options. That’s why both owners of older and newer TVs or mobile phones should be happy with it.
The end device can be connected either wired or wirelessly. Wired connection uses a 3,5 mm connector, a traditional CINCH connector, as well as a modern digital optical audio connector. We used this connector to connect to the TV, but the corresponding cable had to be purchased separately. The package includes an optical cable.
The wireless connection is provided via Bluetooth technology version 4.2, with a range of approximately 10 meters from the device. It’s a bit of a shame that the manufacturer doesn’t offer a newer version of this technology like 5.0 or 5.1.
Sound: Up to 8 powerful speakers
A really important factor when buying speakers is, of course, their sound output. In this case too, Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar delivers a very good sound performance considering the very low price of the device.
The setup includes 8 speakers placed on the front side. The frequency range of these speakers is 50 Hz to 25000 Hz, which practically covers the entire sound frequency spectrum. Despite being positioned at the front, the sound spreads nicely throughout the room for all nearby users.
The 83 cm long speaker contains a total of 8 of the mentioned audio drivers. This includes 2 x 20 mm tweeters, 4 x passive drivers, and 2 x 2.5″ active bass drivers. So the equipment definitely isn’t bad when it comes to the so-called paper technical specifications. But how does this soundbar perform in real life?
The sound is really loud and clear, and there’s also a deep bass component that’s especially useful when watching various series and movie experiences. We were very satisfied with the sound output, and we didn’t notice any distortion even at higher volumes.
Compared to a standard TV speaker, you’ll hear a significant difference in sound quality—this is exactly what this speaker is designed for.
Also as a Bluetooth speaker
The mentioned wireless functionality is provided via Bluetooth technology 4.2. Using it is very simple: just turn on the Mi TV Soundbar itself, then use the hardware plastic buttons to select the corresponding Bluetooth option.
After that, you only need to go into your smartphone settings and select Mi TV Soundbar in the Bluetooth menu—just like with any other Bluetooth speaker. This way, you can play music or the sound from videos through this soundbar even using your smartphone, tablet, or notebook.
The benefit of the mode labeled “Bluetooth” isn’t just the high-quality music experience connected to your portable devices, but also the ability to adjust the volume directly via the end device.
A remote control is truly missing
However, before we praise it too much, let’s move on to the negative sides of the Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar. The biggest and main drawback is the absence of a remote control (if we ignore the alternative solution when using it wirelessly).
The requested feature that has become the target of criticism among a fairly wide range of users is missing in this case. Volume control or turning the device on and off must be done only using the hardware buttons on the device body.
Xiaomi probably had to cut costs somewhere, but chose too big of a compromise that not every user may be willing to accept. When connected via an optical cable, you’ll need to get up from the couch or chair and manually switch the relevant settings. The same applies when changing the playback mode (wired/wireless).
A partial solution can be connecting using the remaining connection methods. When connected via Bluetooth or AUX, you can control the speaker volume directly using your TV remote.
Final review: Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar
Xiaomi Mi TV Soundbar delivers really great sound and, in its price category, it practically has no competition. Another big advantage is that you can use it as a Bluetooth speaker. The only thing that keeps it on its toes is competition from Xiaomi’s own lineup, such as the cheaper Redmi TV Soundbar.
