Bold Chinese brand Xiaomi brings via its crowdfunding platform Xiaomi Youpin a new smart pillow that eliminates snoring and even monitors your sleep quality.
A Xiaomi smart pillow that helps you with snoring
Smart pillow shouldn’t be underestimated. It’s a new Xiaomi product that can help with snoring. Users who snore tend to have restless sleep, frequent waking up during the night, or poor sleep quality. In worse cases, it can cause sleep apnea, which may lead to headaches, cardiovascular problems, mood changes, or depression.
That’s why it’s important to think about your sleep quality. Today, we can see a trend where even electric cars are getting connected to your smartphone. The smart pillow works on the same principle, and you can view your statistics directly on your device.
A new pillow was created in collaboration with Xiaomi and the partner brand Shusleep. It specializes in smart solutions for personal relaxation, and this model is already the third generation of their flagship product — an anti-snoring pillow.
Three airbag modules and adjustable intensity via the app
How does it work? The magic lies in the pillow’s filling. It has a core made of special elastic memory foam, surrounded by nano-sensors and a set of three airbags. They’re similar to airbags in pressure gauges and can inflate and deflate as needed. The pillow precisely captures vibrations in the throat muscles that cause snoring, and then gently adjusts the sleeping head position—front to back, right to left—eliminating unwanted noise from the airways.
Another big advantage is its intelligent connectivity. It can connect to the Xiaomi Home, app, collects data about your sleep routine, and based on it can predict the moment when you’re about to start snoring. In light sleep mode, the mentioned airbags slowly adapt to your sleep settings. Then, in deep sleep mode, they stop the snoring.
And if you want, you can manually adjust the pillow’s adjustment level using three programmable intensity levels. The pillow also records your heart rate, breathing rate, body movement, sleep stage, sleep habits, sleep quality, and other features in real time.
Price and availability of the new smart pillow
This product was part of the crowdfunding Xiaomi Youpin, and it was very successful, managing to raise as much as 326% of its target. Its introductory sale price is expected to be around 1299 Chinese yuan.
That currently works out to about €166. For now, however, we don’t know the product’s global availability. We expect it will appear on the listings of international sellers, for example on Aliexpress.com.
