Xiaomi Redmi smartphones are very well known to all fans of this company. Low prices and great specs have made them some of the most successful smartphones from Xiaomi. However, Redmi has been an independent brand from the start, and the new brand’s president has shared surprising information directly.
Snapdragon 855 and Redmi?
According to the latest post on the social network Weibo, a Redmi flagship is in the works, powered by Snapdragon 855. Until now, Redmi’s smartphones were positioned in the lower to mid-range. It looks like Redmi’s strategy is set to change significantly.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is, in fact, the most powerful mobile chipset for 2019 flagship phones. He did not provide any more details about the upcoming Redmi flagship. However, the same information was recently shared directly by the company’s founder, Lei Jun,.
Based on the information leaked so far, it could be a Redmi X smartphone, whose launch is estimated for February 15. None of this is confirmed, though, so we’ll have to wait for the real details.
In his post, Lu Weibing also writes that the whole Redmi team has high expectations for the upcoming Redmi Note 7 Pro. It will be unveiled shortly after the New Chinese Year celebrations end. It has already been confirmed that it will come with a 48 MPx Sony IMX586 camera on the back.
The next equipment for the Redmi Note 7 Pro should include a more powerful Snapdragon 675, which will replace the Snapdragon 660 from the standard Note “seven”. There should also be a variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The rest of the specs will most likely be the same as the sibling device. So we can expect a 6.3″ display with a drop-shaped notch, a 4000 mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie.
