On December 28, we’ll officially see the smartphone Xiaomi 12 presented on the Chinese market. The manufacturer has already started sharing some of its specs, and this time it focused on the display of the new device.
A top-tier display breaks records
Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, shared a poster on the Chinese Weibo social network showing that the display of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 has been certified by DisplayMate with an A+ rating. He added that the panel achieved 15 new records, but we don’t know what they are yet—we’ll likely learn them during the conference.
The display will be protected by the currently most durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The exact AMOLED panel will have a maximum brightness of up to 1 600 nits.
We already know that Xiaomi 12 will be among the more compact smartphones, because the display size will stop at 6.28 inches. This was revealed by a company poster that directly compares Xiaomi 12 with the 6.1-inch iPhone 13, which is also very compact.
It seems the Chinese giant managed to create a truly beautiful panel with Full HD+ resolution that will delight all users. We also expect a 120-hertz variable refresh rate. According to leaks, the display panel will have a very subtle bend on the sides.
And what about the other specs?
As we’ve known for some time, Xiaomi will use the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It’s capable of scoring over a million points on AnTuTu, and the smartphone will have plenty of power to spare.
The design is already clear, as we could see it in leaked renders, but Xiaomi is still refusing to show the back of the device and thereby confirm the rumors. We’ll see whether it does—or whether it saves it for the actual conference.
Besides this model, we should also get the Pro variant and an upgrade to the operating system MIUI 13. Follow our website so you won’t miss anything important, and right after the announcement of the new devices you can look forward to our detailed articles with all the specs.
