Xiaomi has officially unveiled its flagship smartphone Xiaomi 12 Pro in a new version. The main change is the Mediatek processor, the model Dimensity 9000+, which will replace the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the original version. However, it’s not the only upgrade, and fans will surely be pleased with the improved camera, a larger battery, or the nice sales price.
Xiaomi 12 Pro: Dimensity Edition
At today’s Chinese press conference, we got to see several new Xiaomi products. Besides the new flagship Xiaomi 12S smartphone series, the 16″ notebook, or the new fitness band, the world also saw the updated Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone version, marked as “Dimesity Edition.”
The main change in the updated version, as the name suggests, is the new flagship processor. This time it’s the Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ model, which definitely has a lot to offer. According to a source from MyDrivers.com, in performance tests this model reached a AnTuTu score that exceeded 1.1 million points. So behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, it falls by only about 10,000 points.
Surprisingly, the processor isn’t the only change. A significantly enlarged battery has also been fitted into the design of this device. It has increased from the original 4600 mAh up to 5160 mAh. On the other hand, the battery life under heavy load should be reduced, as well as the charging speed. While the original version had 120 W wired charging, this new one offers a maximum power of 67 W.
The third new feature is pulse cooling, similar to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra smartphone. This will provide total cooling surface dimensions of up to 2900 mm² and the Vapor Chamber technology. A welcome improvement is also the dual stereo speakers from Harman/Kardon with support for Hi-Res Audio or Dolby Atmos.
Another major change is the new camera. Following the Xiaomi 12S series, it features a main 50 MPx sensor Sony IMX707 (1/1.28″). A macro sensor will also be included, but without the Leica logo, and therefore without the software optimization from this well-known German brand.
What stays the same, however, is the display. It’s identical to the original: it has a diagonal of 6.73″ and it uses a Samsung E5 AMOLED panel. It has 32 million pixels and a resolution of 1440p.
Price and availability of the new Xiaomi smartphone

Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition goes on sale in the base configuration with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for just 3999 Chinese yuan. Converted to the current exchange rate, that’s 572 € / 596 USD. The higher version has up to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. It will cost 4499 Chinese yuan, or 644 € / 671 USD.
