If you were waiting for the next compact flagship from Xiaomi, we’ve got fresh info for you. Xiaomi 17 is expected to go global very soon, and one German retailer apparently couldn’t take it anymore—accidentally (or “accidentally”) leaked the Europe price and full specs. And while it looks great at first glance, there’s one thing in the details that could make a lot of people pretty angry.

Premium pricing without a price hike—but not without compromises
According to the leak, Xiaomi decided not to raise the price compared to the previous generation. In Europe, Xiaomi 17 with 512 GB storage is expected to be sold for €1,099, which is surprisingly the same league as last year.
If the older info from a leaker named Sudhanshu Ambhore checks out, the base version with 256 GB could start at around €999—which already sounds a bit more reasonable, at least on paper.
The global version is said to come in multiple color options, and Xiaomi is clearly aiming at people who want a smaller—but extremely powerful—phone without having to carry a brick in their pocket.
Performance will be top-tier either way. Inside, you’ll get the brutal chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, meaning the very best Qualcomm offers right now. There’s really no need to talk about performance here—that’s going to be absolute top-class for 2026.
Battery: better than last year, worse than in China
And now comes the moment where a lot of fans will sigh. The global version of Xiaomi 17 is said to have a 6,330 mAh battery with 100 W charging—which is a noticeable upgrade over last year’s 5,240 mAh, but… the Chinese version is said to have up to 7,000 mAh.
The difference is quite significant, and the familiar old trend is confirmed again: the domestic market gets more, while the rest of the world has to make do with a smaller package. For everyday use, it will probably be enough, but at a price around a thousand, you’d want to get the “full package.”
When will we get Xiaomi 17?
Everything suggests that the global unveiling will take place shortly after MWC 2026 in Barcelona, that is, sometime in March. Along with the Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also expected to go global, so Xiaomi is preparing a major offensive right at the time when Samsung and Apple will already be past their big launches.
Xiaomi 17 looks like an extremely powerful, compact flagship that doesn’t stray from the premium segment when it comes to price. If we’re only talking about performance, design, and charging, it’s an obvious candidate for one of the best Android phones of 2026.
That smaller global battery, though, is simply disappointing. It’s not a dealbreaker for everyone, but it’s exactly the kind of detail that brand fans will notice and bring up in discussions.
