Xiaomi 17T Pro is a smartphone that no longer wants to be labeled only as a traditional “flagship killer”. MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a huge 7000 mAh battery, 100 W charging, Leica cameras with 5x periscope zoom, and a 144 Hz AMOLED display place it right among the top-performance premium models of 2026.

In preparing this comprehensive review, we processed a pan-European study consisting of 123 expert reviews, lab measurements, user ratings, and discussions from more than 15 countries. The result showed plenty of strengths, but also a few drawbacks that you simply can’t ignore with Xiaomi’s phone at an official price starting from 849 €.

How did this mega review come about? Methodology and sources used

Research based on 123 source materials

This mega review wasn’t created based only on a single foreign article or short impressions from using the device. It’s the result of extensive pan-European research, where we processed a total of 123 source materials from more than 15 countries and in multiple European languages. The goal was to find which features of the Xiaomi 17T Pro repeat across independent tests, lab measurements, and the experiences of real owners.

This number does not include 123 full-fledged lab reviews. The dataset includes expert tests with our own measurements, long-term experiences from reviewers, user ratings, discussion forums, store product pages, pricing sources, and official manufacturer information. Separately, we processed 49 benchmark and lab measurements, 23 recurring complaint categories, the most praised features, as well as test results for battery, charging, performance, display, and cameras.

What sources did we use?

Some of the most important expert sources included, for example, GSMArena, Smartzone.de, Connect, Xataka, Phonandroid, Tweakers, Tabletowo, Mobilissimo, Sector, and Svet Androida.

User experiences were compared via Amazon platforms in Germany, Spain, Italy, and France, as well as through Alza, Heureka, Skroutz, Ceneo, MediaMarkt, Fnac, PcComponentes, Tweakers Pricewatch, GSMArena User Opinions, and several local discussion forums. A single user comment alone wasn’t considered proof of a general problem.

How did we evaluate the data?

  1. We distinguished between lab measurements, the reviewer’s subjective impression, user experience, and the manufacturer’s data.
  2. We used official Xiaomi materials mainly to verify specifications, functions, and the length of software support.
  3. We labeled the issue as recurring only when it was mentioned by multiple independent sources or users from different countries.
  4. If the measurements differed—for example for throttling, battery life, or charging speed—we provided the full range and possible reasons for the differences.
  5. The resulting score isn’t a simple average of ratings from foreign websites. It’s our editorial evaluation of all the collected data.

More weight was given to repeatable lab measurements, issues confirmed by multiple independent sources, and features where both expert reviewers and real users agreed. Prices, availability, software, and user ratings can change over time.

The data were checked in July 2026. This mega-review doesn’t replace our own long-term test of one specific unit, but it offers a broader view based on results and experiences from across Europe.

A big and heavy smartphone that feels premium

Xiaomi 17T Pro is definitely not a compact phone. The dimensions 162.2 × 77.5 × 8.25 mm and a weight of 219 grams are noticeable already the first time you pick it up. Our testing shows that size and weight are among the most commonly mentioned build drawbacks.

For one-handed operation, you’ll need to shift the phone in your palm, and the prominent camera module causes it to wobble on a flat table. That’s why we recommend using the included protective case—not just for protection, but also for a more secure grip.

However, the build quality matches the premium category. The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, the frame is solid, and the entire device meets the IP68 certification. So the phone is resistant to dust and short-term immersion in fresh water under controlled conditions.

Around the display you’ll find narrow, symmetrical bezels; the buttons feel solid, and the linear vibration motor also deserves praise. There are black, dark blue, and purple color options.

Ad

144 Hz AMOLED display is among the best parts of the phone

The front is dominated by a 6,83-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2772 × 1280 pixels and a sharpness of 447 ppi. It supports 12-bit colors, full coverage of the DCI-P3, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Xiaomi lists typical brightness of 600 nits, HBM brightness of 2000 nits, and a local peak up to 3500 nits. In independent testing by the German Smartzone, the display reached about 2270 lux—so it stays readable even during a sunny day. You’ll also like the high-frequency 3840 Hz PWM dimming, which may feel more comfortable for people sensitive to flicker on OLED panels.

But the 144 Hz figure should be taken with a grain of salt. Most of the system and apps run at 120 Hz, and the maximum refresh rate only kicks in in selected situations or in supported games. Also, the panel isn’t an LTPO type, so it can’t smoothly drop—for example—to 1 Hz.

Despite that, it’s an excellent display with natural colors, high contrast, and very good visibility from different angles. You can choose a more natural Original Color Pro mode or a more vibrant color setting.

Dimensity 9500 delivers brutal performance

Performance is handled by the 3 nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor with one C1-Ultra core up to 4,21 GHz, three C1-Premium cores, and four C1-Pro cores. It’s complemented by a Mali G1-Ultra GPU, 12 GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage.

In Europe-wide benchmarks, AnTuTu in v11 moved roughly from 3,0 to 3,49 million points. Geekbench 6 reached 2950 to 3239 points in the single-core test and approximately 9000 to 9898 points in the multi-core test. Sequential storage read performance reached about 3400 MB/s and write speeds about 3000 MB/s.

Compared to the Xiaomi 15T Pro, this is a noticeable generational leap. In one German test, the Xiaomi 17T Pro scored 11 3 348 points in AnTuTu v357, while the predecessor with Dimensity 9400+ finished with 2 705 609 points.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 remains especially stronger in graphics benchmarks, but in everyday use the difference is practically unnoticeable. The system is instantly responsive, app switching is smooth, and the phone has plenty of headroom even for video editing, emulation, or demanding multitasking.

Ad

Gaming is handled without issues, though throttling results differ

Games like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty Mobile, or more demanding titles similar to Wuthering Waves run on the Xiaomi 17T Pro at high graphics settings with a smooth frame rate. The powerful chip is supported by Xiaomi 3D IceLoop cooling.

The phone’s surface clearly heats up during longer gaming sessions or while recording 4K video, but in everyday use we didn’t find recurring reports from European data sources about critical overheating, spontaneous shutdowns, or dangerous temperatures.

There are also different results in stress tests. Smartzone measured about a 27 % drop in CPU performance and nearly stable graphics. Other outlets recorded roughly 52 to 68 % stability, and Digital Trends reports 3,58 % in a 9DMark test.

The differences can be caused by different firmware versions, room temperature, performance mode, and the testing methodology. Short-term performance is top-tier in any case, but for prolonged maximum load you should expect some performance reduction.

Ad

7000 mAh battery is the biggest advantage

A silicon-carbon battery with a 7000 mAh capacity is among the largest you’ll find today in a regular European smartphone. Compared to the Xiaomi 15T Pro, that’s an increase of 1500 mAh without a dramatic increase in device thickness. In the PCMark test, the phone lasted up to 26 hours and 45 minutes at 60 Hz. At 120 Hz it was still about 20 hours and 55 minutes.

Battery tests from GSMarena

In real-world use, people most often mention two days without charging, while the Spanish Xataka used the phone from Friday to Monday on a single charge, including photography and social media.

The battery was the most frequently praised feature of the entire device, with at least 35 independent sources rating it positively. A smaller group of users, however, reported weaker results when gaming, emulation, continuous mobile data use, or after restoring a large number of apps from an older phone.

So real battery life won’t be directly proportional to the huge capacity in every scenario, but for a full day you’ll still need to use the phone quite intensively.

100 W charging needs the right adapter

The Xiaomi 17T Pro supports 100 W wired charging, 50 W HyperCharge wireless charging, and reverse wired charging up to 22,5 W. However, the power adapter isn’t included in the European package. You only get a USB cable, a protective case, a pre-applied film, and basic documentation.

Xiaomi recommends its own 100 W adapter or a compatible PPS charger, because with a regular USB Power Delivery adapter the phone may not reach its maximum performance.

The difference can be significant. Smartzone measured a full charge in about 46 minutes. Xataka used a 125 W PD adapter and the phone needed as much as 83 minutes, with only 56% shown after 30 minutes. So it’s not just about the wattage printed on the charger, but also the supported protocol, the cable, battery temperature, and whether the maximum speed setting is enabled. When buying an adapter, we recommend checking support for 100 W PPS or Xiaomi HyperCharge.

The main Leica camera is among the best in its price category

The main camera uses a 50 MP Light Fusion 950 sensor with a 1/1.31″ size, an f/1.67 aperture, and optical stabilization. In daylight, it produces very detailed photos with a wide dynamic range, reliable focusing, and strong contrast.

There are two Leica profiles available. Leica Vibrant delivers richer, more visually appealing colors, while Leica Authentic uses a more muted rendering, deeper shadows, and a more characteristic look.

Even at night, the main camera remains very capable. It can handle strong street lights, preserve details in the shadows, and keep noise levels low.

In extremely dark areas, you may see a subtle watercolor-like effect or more aggressive smoothing. The best results come in Auto mode with optical stabilization. You don’t need to enable the manual Night mode for every shot.

5-x periscope is the real showpiece

The biggest photographic highlight is the 50 MPx periscope telephoto lens with a focal length of 115 mm, an f/3.0 aperture, optical stabilization, and native 5-x zoom. In good light, it can produce sharp photos with details approaching those of more expensive flagship models.

The colors match the main camera well, and 10-x zoom works very effectively too—Xiaomi calls it optical quality achieved by combining a crop from the sensor with image processing.

The maximum 120-x AI zoom is more of a marketing feature. The values that are truly usable are mainly 5× and 10×, or roughly 20× in good light with a steady hand. The periscope also handles night photos surprisingly well, but at 10-x zoom it switches to more aggressive sharpening.

The weak point is the minimum focusing distance. The phone isn’t suitable for extreme tele-macro shots, and when photographing food or small objects it may prompt you to step back from the subject.

The ultra-wide camera falls noticeably behind

The trio of rear cameras is completed by a 12 MPx ultra-wide sensor with a 120-step field-of-view and an f/2.2 aperture. During the day, it delivers decent photos, solid dynamic range, and color rendering that mostly matches the main camera. However, the small sensor and the lack of autofocus result in softer corners, a lower level of detail, and the inability to produce good-quality macro shots.

In low light, the difference between the main and ultra-wide cameras grows dramatically. Sharpness drops, fine textures disappear, and image processing has to suppress noise much more aggressively.

The weak ultra-wide camera appeared as a complaint only in 26-euro European sources, making it the most frequently criticized hardware feature of Xiaomi 17T Pro. That’s why, for evening photography, we recommend sticking to the main or periscope camera.

The selfie camera is usable, but not flagship-level

The front camera offers 32 MP resolution, an f/2.2 aperture, and a wide 90-step field of view. During the day, it produces pleasant colors, handles the sky well, and automatic HDR can save overexposed backgrounds. Xiaomi, however, didn’t use autofocus, so the resulting sharpness depends on the correct distance of your face from the phone. Plus, at close zoom, the photos don’t look like real 32 MP.

In portraits, the software can over-smooth skin or separate hair from the background inaccurately. We recommend turning off automatic beautification and keeping a more natural skin texture. The selfie camera supports 4K video at 30 fps and HDR10+, which is a nice bonus for video calls, short videos, and social media.

Ad

The video offers a wide range of modes, but it needs good lighting.

The main camera handles 8K video at 30 fps, 4K at 120 fps, and 4K HDR10+ at 60 fps. It also includes a LOG profile, cinematic mode, timelapse video, slow-motion footage, and a trio of microphones.

Stabilization on the main camera works well, and during the day the phone can capture very detailed and smooth footage. The 4K/120 fps mode is especially suitable for short slow-motion sequences.

Great video and photo test from Czech YouTuber Jan Rybář:

When 4K/120 fps is enabled, a time limit of about six minutes may appear, because both the processor and the sensor generate a lot of heat. Night video is weaker than photos, and with the additional cameras, sharpness drops noticeably.

Differences between the lenses are also visible in colors and stabilization performance. For the best quality, we recommend the main camera, 4K/30 or 4K/60 fps, and turning off digital zoom during recording.

HyperOS 3 is smooth, but ads have no place at this price.

Xiaomi 17T Pro comes with Android 16 and the HyperOS 3 system. The manufacturer promises five major Android updates and six years of security patches. The interface is fast, animations are smooth, and among the new features you’ll find Super Island around the front camera, Gemini, Circle to Search, AI text rewriting, translation, speech recognition, and photo-editing tools. Also noteworthy is improved compatibility with Apple products and easier file transfer between your phone, iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

The biggest issue is the preinstalled apps, ad recommendations, and marketing notifications. Bloatware and ads were criticized by up to 23 separate sources. Most apps can be uninstalled and recommendations can be disabled in the settings of individual system apps, but for a phone priced at 849 to 1029 €, that shouldn’t be necessary.

HyperOS may also more aggressively restrict background apps. For messengers, smartwatches, or security apps, we recommend enabling auto-start and setting the battery mode to unrestricted.

Ad

Modern connectivity with one inexplicable limitation

The package includes Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR port, 5G, dual SIM, and eSIM support. Navigation uses dual-band GPS L1 + L5, along with Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, NavIC, and QZSS systems.

In available European user experiences, we didn’t find recurring issues with weak mobile signal, GPS dropouts, or non-working NFC. Isolated discussions about Wi‑Fi were more about general HyperOS problems than a confirmed hardware fault with the Xiaomi 17T Pro.

A baffling decision is using only USB-C 2.0 with speeds of around 480 Mb/s. Transferring large 4K or 8K videos to your computer can therefore take a very long time, and the connector doesn’t support DisplayPort video output. USB 2.0 was criticized by at least 11 sources across Europe. For a phone presented as a powerful photo and video tool, this is an unnecessary and hard-to-defend compromise.

The speakers are loud, but the competition sounds better

Stereo speakers support Dolby Atmos and can play loud enough for watching videos, podcasts, or using navigation. However, the top speaker isn’t as prominent as the bottom one, so the sound doesn’t feel fully balanced. At high volume, deeper bass is missing, and the highs can sound sharper.

Compared with OnePlus, OPPO, Samsung phones, or the POCO F8 Ultra model, the sound feels less full. Weaker or unbalanced speakers were criticized by 14 sources. Haptic feedback, on the other hand, is precise and high-quality. The optical fingerprint reader responds quickly, but it’s placed fairly low along the bottom edge of the display. That’s why some users have to move their thumb unnaturally when unlocking.

What do real users praise the most?

User ratings are mostly positive despite the shortcomings mentioned. On Amazon in Germany, Spain, Italy, and France, it scored an average of about 4,5 to 4,7 out of 5. Ceneo in Poland reached 4,9 points, and Czech and Slovak comparison sites hovered around 98 to 99 %.

Since it’s a new model, some local stores have only had a few reviews so far, and the results should be taken as initial feedback.

The most praised feature was battery life, which was mentioned positively in 35 sources. Next came the main camera and the 5-times periscope with 31-mentions, performance with 25-mentions, build quality with IP68 in 15 sources, and an AMOLED display in 14 sources. A significantly better value-for-money rating appeared especially at promo prices around 600 to 700 €, not at the official recommended price.

Most common complaints

The biggest weakness was the ultra-wide camera, criticized in 26 sources. Next came ads and bloatware in HyperOS with 23 mentions, a price increase compared to the predecessor with 18 mentions, heating or throttling with 14 mentions, and average speakers also with 14 mentions. Weight or size showed up in 13 sources, and the weaker selfie camera in 12.

What’s important is that during the tests there was no evidence of an expanded manufacturing issue, serious network failures, frequent reboots, non-working GPS, or a dramatically faulty battery. Most of the criticism concerns Xiaomi’s long-term compromises—USB 2.0, ads in the system, the weaker ultra-wide camera, and aggressive app management in the background.

Xiaomi 17T Pro vs Xiaomi 15T Pro

Compared to Xiaomi 15T Pro, the newcomer mainly brings a more powerful processor, a battery expanded from 5500 to 7000 mAh, 100 W wired charging, and a better 5x telephoto camera. Battery life moved from very good to one of the best in its class, and performance in AnTuTu increased from roughly 2.7 to 3.35 million points. Storage speed also improved, along with the length of the software support.

But Xiaomi 15T Pro owners have little reason to switch immediately. The design, the basic character of the display, and part of the photo setup remain similar. The ultra-wide and front camera haven’t moved forward significantly, USB stays in version 2.0, and the base amount of RAM is still 12 GB. The biggest point of upgrading will be for people who need much longer battery life or use the telephoto lens more often.

Ad

How does it stack up against Samsung, Pixel, and other Chinese brands?

Compared to Samsung Galaxy S26 or Google Pixel 10 Pro, Xiaomi offers a significantly larger battery, faster wired and wireless charging, and higher overall raw performance. The advantage also includes a native 5-times telephoto lens. However, Samsung and Google provide a smoother system, less bloatware, better consistency across cameras, a higher-quality ultra-wide sensor, and generally more reliable video processing.

POCO F8 Ultra or OnePlus 15 can deliver even higher graphics performance and better speakers. Vivo X300 and OPPO Find X9 are stronger for macro photography, portraits, and night zoom, but they’re often pricier or more complicated to get through official European distribution.

So Xiaomi 17T Pro is primarily a very well-balanced phone that combines above-average performance, long battery life, and a quality telephoto camera without pricing itself into the level of the most expensive Ultra models.

Which memory version should you choose?

Basic 256 GB can be enough for a typical user, but the phone doesn’t have a microSD card slot. Photos from the 50 MPx mode, RAW files, and 4K or 8K videos can fill up storage very quickly.

At the time of writing this review, the most cost-effective option price-wise was the top 1 TB variant, which with our coupon came out up to €142 cheaper than at local Slovak stores. This is a significant price saving—equivalent, for example, to good smartwatches or another cheaper phone.

For whom does Xiaomi 17T Pro make the most sense?

Xiaomi 17T Pro is recommended for users who want maximum battery life, high performance, a large display, and a high-quality telephoto camera—without investing in Ultra models. It’s a great choice for travel, gaming, watching videos, photographing distant objects, and for people who don’t want to plug in their phone every evening. At a price of around 650 €, it delivers hardware that in many areas comes very close to phones costing more than 1000 €.

It’s not the best fit for fans of compact devices, pure Android, professional video transmission via USB, ultra-wide photography, or tele-macro. For owners of Xiaomi 15T Pro, we recommend waiting at least for the next generation. However, for users coming from older models like Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 14T, or mid-range phones, this is a noticeable upgrade in practically all the key areas.
