Xiaomi, according to the latest information, is preparing a major change in its premium lineup. The upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro shouldn’t remain exclusive to the Chinese market, but will also be released on global markets, including Europe. So for the first time, fans of the brand can look forward to an unusual rear display in the international version.

The information comes from leaks of the device’s model designations, suggesting that the global version is already in development. Xiaomi wants to strengthen its position more significantly among premium smartphones.
A rear display at last — also for the global market
One of the most interesting new features will be the secondary display on the back again, known from the Chinese Xiaomi 17 Pro. This feature makes it possible to show notifications, a clock, battery status, or use the main camera for selfies with a preview on the rear display.
The lack of this feature in the global version of the Xiaomi 17 Pro disappointed a lot of fans. However, it seems that Xiaomi is changing its plans this time, and will make the rear display available to customers outside China as well.
A next-gen Snapdragon and a pair of 200 MP cameras
Under the hood, the upcoming processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is expected to be used, which will be among the most powerful chips for Android smartphones.
Big changes are also coming to the camera setup. According to current leaks, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will get two 200 MPx SmartSens sensors right away. The main camera is said to use a large 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor, which should deliver better dynamic range, higher brightness, and higher-quality photos especially in low-light conditions.
It’s also mentioned that there will be a new AI button, which should be used to quickly launch intelligent camera functions or other AI tools within the system.
Xiaomi wants to repeat the success of the 17 series
The Xiaomi 17 series recorded very strong sales on the home Chinese market, and the company wants to bring that success to global markets as well. The wider availability of the Xiaomi 18 Pro model under the codename “venice” suggests that the manufacturer plans to compete even more strongly with premium models from Samsung, Apple, and other brands.
Based on available information, the global version will appear in multiple regions, including European countries, Turkey, Japan, Taiwan, and Russia. What’s interesting is that India isn’t mentioned yet among the supported markets.
