Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro and Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi
Xiaomi has officially unveiled a new pair of earbuds: the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro and Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi. Ahead of the MWC 2025 exhibition, we can also expect this top-tier accessory. Each earbud weighs just 5.6 grams on its own, and with the “true-wireless” design, long-term wearing won’t be a problem either.
The main advantage of this earbud pair is the 11 mm dynamic drivers, complemented by a tweeter and a piezoelectric driver. They also support codecs Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, AAC, SBC and LC3. An interesting Xiaomi feature is real-time translation and transcription. However, whether this feature will also be available for the Slovak language is still unknown.
Unlike the flagship smartphones in the Xiaomi 15 series, they do not support the latest Bluetooth 6.0, so for earbuds we’ll have to make do with Bluetooth 5.4. The package also includes support for ANC, i.e. noise cancellation up to 55 dB. Fast Pair for Android is also included, along with pairing to two devices at the same time.
An interesting Wi-Fi version with lossless sound 4,2 Mbps
So what about the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi version? These earbuds may look just like the standard Buds 5 Pro at first glance, and they also share most of the technical specifications. The difference is the Wi‑Fi functionality. This is something Xiaomi is bringing to this type of earbuds for the very first time, and it enables 4.2 Mbps lossless sound.
The Wi‑Fi version also supports audio transmission at 96 kHz/24-bit thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite and XPAN technology. However, it will work only with compatible smartphones, whose list will be available soon on Xiaomi’s website. At minimum, the newest Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra support audio streaming over Wi‑Fi.
Both versions of the earbuds—the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro and the Buds 5 Pro Wi‑Fi—have been tuned by the popular Harman / Kardon brand. The built-in battery is claimed to offer up to 8 hours of use on a single charge. Xiaomi says this figure applies with ANC turned off, when listening with a lower-quality codec. The more interesting number comes with charging in the charging case—up to 40 hours.
