Even while the new Xiaomi CC9 Pro was still in the middle of its announcement, its first review had already been posted on the DxOmark website. DxOmark is responsible for rating cameras and lenses in mobile phones. So how did the newly launched novelty do?
Xiaomi’s efforts didn’t go to waste
Xiaomi didn’t hide the fact that they invested a lot of money and even more effort into the development and final tuning of the five-camera system in the Xiaomi CC9 Pro. Their hard work paid off—although their smartphones in the past weren’t exactly known for extreme camera performance, the CC9 Pro model broke the ice.
In the DxOmark test, the new smartphone achieved one of the highest scores. With a total of 121 points it sits on the throne next to the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. It thus surpassed models such as the Galaxy Note 10+, P30 Pro, or Galaxy S10.

In the rankings, the Xiaomi CC9 Pro moved ahead of flagships like the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10, as well as the OnePlus 7 Pro and Google Pixel 4. It managed to do so even though many of them, with their launch price, “don’t even reach ankle height”.
The five-camera setup composition in the CC9 Pro:
- 5 MPx OV08A10 super-telephoto sensor, also known as a periscope sensor with optical four-axis stabilization, which offers 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 50x digital zoom
- 12 MPx portrait sensor S5K2L7 with a large lens 50 mm with a pixel size of 1.4 microns. It supports dual autofocus PD and has an aperture of f / 2.0
- 108 MPx Samsung S5KHMX- primary camera with optical four-axis stabilization. It’s a 1/1.33-inch sensor with an aperture value of f / 1.69, pixel size is 0.8 µm
- 20 MPx Sony IMX350 CMOS BSI ultra-wide sensor with a field of view of 117 degrees, aperture f/2.2, and pixel size 1.00 µm
- 2 MPx super macro lens with a focal length of 1.5 cm
About DXOMARK camera tests : To evaluate and analyze smartphone reviews, DXOMARK company engineers record and assess more than 1600 test images and more than 2 hours of video under controlled laboratory conditions, as well as in natural, indoor, and outdoor scenes.
The test was split into photo and video
During the test, photos created by the tested smartphone were evaluated separately from the video. In the photo test, the CC9 Pro scored up to 130 points and it was only separated from the first place by two points. Huawei Mate 30 Pro scored 132 points in the photo test.
In a video test, you got a new smartphone from Xiaomi up to 102 points — so far the highest score in any video test a smartphone has ever achieved. The competing Mate 30 Pro in the video test scored 100 points.
Xiaomi pulled it off again. They achieved the highest quality of the camera equipment, combined with a far below-average price compared to similarly equipped smartphones from other brands. The launch price of the cheapest version of the Xiaomi CC9 Pro is €360 / 9200 kč.
For comparison, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro model is offered by the well-known retailer Banggood for €945 / 24,357 CZK. This success from Xiaomi makes us really happy, and we’re eagerly looking forward to the global launch of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, which will be announced tomorrow in Madrid with the same penta camera setup.
