Even though Xiaomi canceled its December conference at the last minute, where it was supposed to unveil, among other things, the Xiaomi 13 series, it still wants to make us happy by having the partner brand POCO apparently show the POCO X5 series soon.

POCO X5 5G was certified

The POCO X5 model is now certified by Malaysia’s SIRIM. The listing confirms the model number and the final marketing name of the upcoming smartphone.

According to the SIRIM list, the smartphone will have the model number 22111317PG and will debut in the Malaysian market under the name POCO X5 5G.

The same device also passed FCC certification. The Indian edition of the smartphone with the model number 22111317PI was also approved by India’s BIS authority.

It’s expected that this smartphone will be a rework of the previously unveiled Redmi Note 12 5G. That one had the model number 22101317C. SIRIM also certified the Redmi Note 12 5G with the model number 22111317G.

Will there also be a Pro model?

However, it’s possible it won’t come alone. The portal XiaomiUI believes that the smartphone with the model number 22101320G, which we mistakenly thought would be the POCO X5 5G, will actually belong to the POCO X5 Pro 5G model.

From leaked specs, we know that the POCO X5 5G will come with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Android 12 will have the familiar MIUI 13 interface. As for performance, POCO will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1.

It will be paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. On the back, there will be a main 48-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The battery should offer up to 5,000 mAh together with 33W wired charging. The fingerprint reader will be built into the power button.

For the POCO X5 Pro model, we have less information. It should feature a 120Hz LCD display, the MIUI 14 interface, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 67W charging.

There’s also uncertainty about the processor that will be used. It will either be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ or the newer Snapdragon 782G. It’s expected to be launched on the global market, in India and China. In China, it could arrive as a Redmi-branded smartphone.
