We’ll start this article in a slightly unusual way at first glance. We’ll be covering Huawei specifically, its subsidiary brand Honor. And to it all, we’ll add the growing Chinese giant Xiaomi, and we’ll get an interesting combination.
As you probably know, Huawei has been going through a pretty tough period for quite a long time. US companies that were key to Huawei’s operations were placed under an embargo, which means they can’t cooperate with Huawei in any way.
Is a better time dawning for Honor?
Honor is a sub-brand created by Huawei. Up until recently, we also had Xiaomi and its subsidiary brand Redmi, which later became independent. On the path to independence, Honor will likely follow in the footsteps of Redmi or POCO.
At the beginning of the month, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported on the possible acquisition of the Honor brand. Honor was founded in 2013 and thanks to this deal, the Chinese giant Huawei could gain around 3 billion euros.
According to speculation from several analysts, Huawei is currently negotiating with Digital China Group and other potential buyers. Among them is, for example, TCL, but also our favorite Xiaomi. However, none of the companies has filed an official statement so far.
This deal could be one of the key moments in the entire history of Huawei and Honor. Thanks to it, Huawei should have enough funds to keep the company running, and especially, with a change of ownership, the Honor brand would not be subject to US bans.
With the next owner at the helm, Honor could move forward and bring great devices to the market. Because of strict US restrictions, it was very hard to push its smartphones and other products into Western markets.
Of course, we’ll keep you updated with more news among these brands. For now, we’re cheering you on and hoping that thanks to this deal we’ll see more interesting and remarkable pieces in the smartphone world.
