2020 is just around the corner and we expect the launch of Xiaomi’s new flagship. We’re talking about the Xiaomi Mi 10 smartphone, which should be officially unveiled in the first quarter of 2020.
Xiaomi Mi 10 may also bring a new type of display
The new flagship is expected to be one of the first, if not the very first smartphone in the world, to feature the new most powerful processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. Besides high performance, it will also bring support for 5G mobile networks and much more.
Some information now suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 10 could be equipped, for its size, with a new type of display Infinity-O.
This display type was developed by Samsung in mid-2018 and is already used in its devices. It would be new in Xiaomi smartphones. It’s a dynamic AMOLED panel, covering as much of the phone’s front area as possible.
It comes with a resolution of up to 1440 x 3040 pixels. It supports HDR10+ content, has high brightness values, and the contrast reaches up to 2 000 000 : 1.
A new trend suggests that the front “selfie” camera should be placed in a perforation— a hole— in the display, similar to the recently presented Redmi K30. However, Xiaomi’s flagship should have the camera located in the middle of the top part of the display, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 model.
We’d rather see the front camera under the display. So, we’d rather not see it, because it would be hidden under the display area.
The Infinity-O panel specs are impressive, but the question is how it will adapt to upcoming trends. We mean the front camera mentioned earlier hidden under the display area, or a high refresh rate.
There are also concerns about the higher price of Xiaomi’s flagship model, because this display type will definitely increase production costs as well.
