As announced, Xiaomi today, on 12.6.2019 in Spain, introduced the expected Xiaomi Mi 9T smartphone. The official launch of this model only confirms that it’s a rebranded Redmi K20, which was presented on the Chinese market in late May.
Redmi branding is gone — full network support has arrived
The main difference between Xiaomi Mi 9T and Redmi K20 is, of course, the name and brand. The Redmi logo on the back has been replaced by the Mi logo. The key news for us Europeans is the complete support for 4G LTE networks, which the original Chinese Redmi K20 doesn’t have.
Xiaomi Mi 9T comes with a widely used LTE B20 band (800 MHz), so you can connect to 4G LTE networks anywhere in Europe.
An interesting European price
Perhaps the most anticipated parameter at the unveiling of the Xiaomi Mi 9T for Europe was the price tag. Until now, we had no idea what it would be. Sales of the new product will kick off in Spain already on June 17. The regular price of the version with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB will be €329 /, but Xiaomi has launched a launch discount for the first 24 hours and is offering the smartphone for €299.
A higher version with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage will be available in Europe for the price of €369. This version will hit the market later. The Mi 9T will be available in three color options – carbon, blue, and red. The red version has announced availability a few weeks later.
For comparison, Redmi K20 in the Chinese market starts at a price of 260 € / 6700 CZK for the 64 GB version and continues with 270 € / 7000 CZK for the 128 GB model.
No word yet on Mi 9T Pro
Many of us were waiting for exactly the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro model, which should come with a Snapdragon 855. So it would be a rebranded Redmi K20 Pro. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t said anything about this model yet, and its launch is currently unknown.
Same specs as in Redmi K20
As we expected, Xiaomi Mi 9T comes with virtually the exact same specs as Redmi K20. At its core is a 6.39″ AMOLED display with minimal bezels and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. You also get a front motorized 20 MPx camera with a sapphire protective cover.
Further Xiaomi Mi 9T features include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, 6 GB RAM, Mi Turbo and Game Turbo 2.0 performance modes, a triple 48 MPx rear camera, and a 4000 mAh battery with fast 18 W charging.
It also has NFC with support for Google Pay payments, a 3.5 mm audio jack, an improved 0.4 mm ultra-amplitude speaker, or a USB Type-C connector. You can find the complete specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 9T on the official Mi.com Spain page.
