Just recently we reported about a new version of the Mi Fit app 4.0.0, and we didn’t even know what updates we’d find out thanks to it. After all, previews from the app leaked information about the upcoming smart band from the popular Mi Band series.
The new Mi Fit app version brought information about Mi Band 4
The images we received hint at the look and design of the new band, but not only that. Some screenshots, or even code snippets, provide details about the features and capabilities we can expect.
Design-wise, Mi Band 4 shouldn’t differ too much from its predecessor, although the official dimensions are not known yet. The surprising new feature is that Xiaomi’s new generation fitness band will have a colored display for the first time in the series. Icon previews also suggest this.
Voice commands, the ability to control music playback, and NFC
Another innovation compared to the previous version of the band should be voice commands. The question is whether voice commands will be available even when using Google’s global assistant. A music playback control function and the ability to view notifications from the locked display should also be added.
The popular NFC module was already placed in Mi Band 3, but not in the global version. Whether its capabilities will be expanded in the new successor, we’ll find out probably only at the official launch.
A clearer menu should also be provided for monitoring individual activities.

Including the code and individual functionalities in the latest Mi Fit version suggests that the release of Mi Band 4 will happen soon. The previous model was presented in May, which also indicates an early arrival of the new product.
And if the low price—something we’ve gotten used to with Mi Bands so far—stays the same, we have a lot to look forward to.
