If you’re a Xiaomi fan, we don’t need to introduce the Mi Fit app. It’s mainly used to pair wearable devices such as bracelets, smartwatches, a personal scale, or smart shoes. Of course, after pairing, the app also serves to monitor your activities, which add up to interesting statistics.
May 08, 2019 the app developers released, after a long time, a major update to version 4.0.0. From official sources, there’s information available that the changes mainly affected the user interface.
A new user interface in a Material design style
This is probably the biggest change brought by the update—and one you can notice immediately after launching the app. Individual app items have been gathered into separate tabs. The tabs now have rounded corners and are separated by a more noticeable spacing.
That makes the menu clearer and gives it a more modern look. You could say it’s getting closer to the popular Material design.
The most significant change in the user interface happened to the menu items at the bottom of the screen. It’s still three items, but they’ve been rearranged. While in older versions they were “Status”, “Workout”, and “Profile”, in the new version space is given to “Workout”, “Family & friends”, and “Profile”.
New arrangement of the menu items
So the item for the current status of measured values has been included in the “Workout” item. In it, you can view your currently reached values. With a single tap in the top area, you can start a physical activity right away, such as running, walking, or cycling.
The Outdoor running and treadmill running categories have been merged into one tab, where you choose via a small icon which type of run you’ll monitor.
“Family & friends” got a separate item, along with sharing each other’s activity workouts. Using a generated QR code, you can add your loved ones and compare your performances. This feature was also present in the older version, but it was hidden in the profile settings.
In “Profile”, some subcategories were also removed, while others were moved to different sections.
The new version of the app is already available in the Play Store. If you already have the Mi Fit app on your phone, you can update it through the Play Store, or directly in the app settings.
The app has been downloaded more than 10 000 000 times and rated by over 365 000 users. Still, it has an average rating of only 3,6 — and maybe the new version will help it climb.
