Today, on 15 July 2020, we witnessed an online presentation by Chinese giant Xiaomi. Besides the global launch of the smart band Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5, for example, as well as the promising Xiaomi Mi TV Stick, we also got new e-scooters, Mi Electric Scooter. So let’s say what they offer.

The Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 has a solid value-for-money ratio in terms of price and equipment

If you don’t feel like walking those long miles to work or school, you can use one of Xiaomi’s new e-scooters. Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 is a great solution with a range of up to 45 kilometers and a max speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

It’s practically the perfect companion for the routes you take often. The scooter can handle an uphill with a gradient of 20%. With a single charge, you can repeat your route throughout the whole week, no problem.

Over time, the device adapts to you. Under your eyes there’s an LCD screen showing a wide range of riding parameters. That way, you can check your current speed and Bluetooth connectivity.

However, this panel also lets you control the scooter in real time. You have control over the front lighting as well as the riding mode. Xiaomi equipped its Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 with a powerful, 300 W motor.

The scooter also features a dual braking system, shock-absorbing tires, and a lightweight, foldable design to improve urban mobility.

To boost riding safety, the company decided to add reflectors on the sides, the back, and the front, plus a 2 W bulb that illuminates the terrain ahead for up to ten meters.

Special edition in collaboration with Mercedes

The price shouldn’t put you off, since this better-equipped new model from the pair costs 499 €. Finally, we’ll also mention the existence of a special edition created in collaboration with the legendary Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team.

Mi Electric Scooter 1S is the cheaper option

The second featured piece is the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 1S, which is a more “mainstream” model for less demanding riders.

While the maximum speed stayed the same as in the variant mentioned above, i.e. 25 kilometers per hour, the possible range was reduced to 30 kilometers, which still isn’t too bad at all.

This time, Xiaomi decided to use an electric motor rated at 250 W. Charging the 7 650 mAh battery takes about 5 and a half hours.

Safety features are here as well as an LCD display for monitoring the status and some controls. In this case, the scooter’s price lands on a pleasant 399 €.
