Xiaomi has launched a new smart sensor for detecting water leaks. It’s extremely affordable

Xiaomi has the most diverse home equipment in its portfolio. As part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, Xiaomi Mi Flood Guard  is now coming to you — a sensor for detecting water leaks. Its price is truly excellent.

It serves its purpose perfectly

This smart detector is designed to spot a potential risk of flooding or other accidents caused by unwanted water leaks. It’s really easy to use, and it can save you from major damage more than once.

Xiaomi Mi Flood Guard comes with elegant and minimalist craftsmanship, so it won’t get in the way even in open spaces. You can use it, for example, in the bathroom, on the toilet, in the kitchen under the sink, and in many other places.

This sensor works very simply. If the level of leaked water exceeds 1 millimeter, the sensor will automatically light up the indicator LED, notify you about the incident via the app, and if it’s connected to a supported device, it will play a sound.

A big advantage—while also a small downside for us—is the very narrow communication with other Xiaomi smart home devices. If you want to make full use of this gadget, you’ll need a suitable app and additional accessories that work well with this detector.

Then, of course, there’s the IP67 certification, so there won’t be any problem even if it’s submerged in up to one meter of water. As for battery life, the device is powered by a CR2032 coin cell, which—thanks to low power consumption—ensures long-lasting use.

Connecting to your smartphone is done via Bluetooth 5.0. To stay on top of things even using your phone, you’ll of course need to be within a few meters of the detector. This gadget has really broad use in the home or other areas where a water leak would cause serious problems.

The price is fantastic

This hot new release in the form of a detector for unwanted water leaks is already available for purchase through the well-known Aliexpress portal. The price is set very low— the sensor costs only 13 €.
