Xiaomi Mi MIX. A kind of benchmark smartphone with a bezel-less design. It was the first Mi MIX that kicked off the era of displays stretched all the way to the edge of the device, taking up almost the entire front. The latest leaks suggest the manufacturer plans to refresh this series.

A bit of history
The first Mi Mix smartphone hit the market in 2016. It was a pretty large device with high-end specs and a ceramic back. Its price also wasn’t the lowest. But the design was far ahead of any competitor. The feeling of luxury practically screamed from it.

This smartphone got a few successors. Mi MIX 2 was slightly smaller with newer hardware. The wow effect from the first model was kind of missing, though. The bezel under the display was narrower, but the other bezels were wider instead. Then came the Mi MIX 2S, which offered the same design with better specs.
So far, the latest model of this series that has made it to the shelves was the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. What made it most interesting was its sliding mechanism. When you slide it out, the selfie camera appears. It was 2018—an era of experimenting and speculating about where to hide the selfie camera.
The revival of the Xiaomi Mi MIX series
The manufacturer also developed another model. The Mi MIX Alpha never reached official sale, but some YouTubers had a chance to try the concept. Almost its entire body was one big display. Its integrity was only broken by the camera part on the back. And that’s how we got to this point—into 2021.

Xiaomi is preparing a new Mi MIX 4 series. The expected specifications are currently completely unknown. We practically know nothing about these models. It’s possible that the Mi MIX 4 will be the manufacturer’s first foldable smartphone. Or two models could be unveiled at once—one with a foldable display and the other with a display modeled after the Mi Mix Alpha.
Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphones definitely won’t be cheap
But you need to be prepared for the fact that technological progress comes with a price. As you probably know, foldable models are among the most expensive smartphones out there today. And a display around the entire device certainly won’t be a cheap thing either.
As early as tomorrow, 7. February, we should find out what Xiaomi finally has in store for us. We’ll be closely following this topic, and as soon as any news appears, we’ll let you know.
