The Chinese company Xiaomi is preparing its new tablet, and we should also get a cheaper and lighter version of it. In addition to the Mi Pad 5 model, a tablet labeled Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite should also hit the market.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite: a lighter and cheaper version

Just a few days ago, the first certification of the upcoming tablet Xiaomi Mi Pad 5. appeared. Today, however, we also know the first information about a new version, which should be the lighter version labeled Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite.

New information comes from the XIAOMIUI source. The model with model code “K82” should offer a slightly less powerful processor than the Mi Pad 5 model (“K81”), but also an IPS display and a camera setup—again with lower resolution compared to the more expensive model.

The certification also revealed the code name “NABU,” and the specs should include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor, a 120 Hz IPS panel with brightness of 410 nits and a resolution that is not specified in more detail (the certification lists 2560 x 800, but that is rather an unusual figure and we’ll have to wait for the official one), plus a set of cameras, where the main one offers a resolution of 12 MPx.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite model should also provide a battery with a truly high capacity—up to 12 400 mAh. A high capacity determines a long runtime on a single charge in combination with the other hardware, and also because of the slightly lower performance.

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 tablet.

For now, we don’t know more information about the device being prepared, although the available information suggests there are overall three different models. The lineup should consist of the base model Mi Pad 5, its more advanced (and still unspecified) version, and the lighter Mi Pad 5 Lite version.
