Xiaomi has popular fitness bands in its portfolio, but also smartwatches—whether under its own brand or within one of its ecosystems. Meet the full new addition, Xiaomi Mi Watch Color Sports Edition – sport-focused smartwatches that can also measure the oxygen content in your blood (SpO2).
Sports-focused
As the official name already suggests, these smartwatches are primarily made for active people who exercise regularly. They can recognize up to 117 different activities. For comparison, the standard version supports only 10 sports modes.
Besides tracking your sports activity, the watch also measures the amount of oxygen in your blood, the so-called SpO2. More and more watches are getting this highly requested feature.
But that’s not all. Xiaomi added support for FIRSTBEAT technology to the watch, which can measure up to 30 parameters such as stress level, heart rate, energy, or sleep monitoring.
Basic technical specifications
The dial of the Xiaomi Mi Watch Color Sports Edition has a diameter of 45.9 mm, and the overall watch dimensions are 45.9 x 53.35 x 11.8 mm. The watch is water-resistant up to 50 m (5 ATM) and can be used at an outdoor temperature of -10 to 45 °C. So you can use it in any weather.
The watch features a beautiful AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.39″ and a resolution of 454 x 454 px. Around the display, there is a thin stainless steel frame that protects the screen from impacts and damage.
As for connectivity, you’ll find NFC support for watch payments (unfortunately, only in China) as well as GPS and GLONASS for location tracking. The watches can be paired with your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, which should help optimize power consumption.
Customization options
Xiaomi Mi Watch Color Sports Edition comes in three color variants – black, silver, and blue.
You’ll find more than 120 different watch face designs and 6 official color straps. They can be changed very easily and quickly. The blue, black, olive green, yellow, red, and beige straps are available.
Battery and charging
The watches come with a 420 mAh battery, which should be enough for about 22 days of use. Of course, capacity drops with frequent GPS usage. With regular use, the manufacturer claims a 16-day battery life. With intensive real-time heart rate tracking and using GPS at the same time, battery life drops to 50 hours.
Wireless charging is used with a charging base.
Price and availability
The new Xiaomi Mi Watch Color Sports Edition will start selling on October 21 at a price of 699 yuan, which is about 89 €.
At the moment, they will be sold only in China. However, it’s expected they’ll soon be available from international retailers.
