Solid power is not missing
For robotic vacuum cleaners, an important parameter is also the maximum suction power. Thanks to a powerful 40 W motor, Xiaomi Mijia 1T provides suction power up to a proper 3000 Pa. To allow maximum versatility, it can be adjusted in up to 4 different levels.
Besides vacuuming, this premium device also offers mopping. Thanks to a water tank with a large capacity of 250 ml, it can mop up to 160 m² at once. The waste tank capacity is also a respectable 550 ml.
A revolution in the form of 3D ToF
In this section, we move on to the vacuum cleaner’s navigation system. As you may know, most robotic vacuum cleaners use the LDS system for navigation. It was indeed high quality and did its job perfectly, but now 3D ToF sensor is coming onto the scene.
Some of you may have already heard the name of this sensor. A few years ago, the ToF system started being used in smartphones to precisely calculate the depth of field, which ultimately achieved a beautiful natural bokeh effect.
In terms of depth of field, you can probably guess how this sensor is used in vacuum cleaners. Thanks to the principle of emitting and receiving photons reflected from particles, combined with sophisticated intelligent algorithms, the vacuum cleaner can beautifully map out the entire terrain and its obstacles.
At the same time, the accuracy and sensitivity of the measurements also increased. The vacuum cleaner can render an obstacle in full size already at a distance of 10 centimeters, and the maximum rendering distance is an impressive 5-6 meters.
The 3D ToF (time of flight) camera works with the 3D VSLAM algorithm, which can precisely calculate the route and obstacles on it. It’s also not a problem for it to respond instantly in case something unexpected runs into the path.
All demanding system and computing operations are handled by a processor with a powerful Cortex-A53 core. In cooperation with the aforementioned algorithms, it can find the best and most efficient route under all circumstances.
In the equipment, you’ll also find a dual gyroscopic sensor to ensure correct orientation in space, an optical flow sensor, and a so-called Cliff sensor, which prevents the vacuum cleaner from accidentally falling from a height.
From the underside of the vacuum cleaner, you’ll find a dense brush for catching dirt, which then travels through a wide opening all the way into the dust container itself. Thanks to the wide opening, there won’t be any problems for Mijia 1T, even with larger debris.
Long vacuuming thanks to the large battery
Battery capacity is always a very important parameter. Especially when it comes to robot vacuum cleaners, it’s worth considering the battery size. Xiaomi Mijia 1T comes to the market with a battery capacity of up to 5200 mAh.
On a single full charge, the vacuum can work for up to 180 minutes in standard mode, during which it can vacuum an area of up to 240 m². After the battery is depleted, the Mijia 1T automatically returns to the charging station, and as soon as it has power, it continues cleaning.
During vacuuming, the device has to deal with overcoming height obstacles. Xiaomi Mijia 1T can handle obstacles up to a height of 20 mm, so a threshold or a carpet won’t be a problem.
Among the other great features is the implementation of voice control via a smart assistant. Since it’s still only the Chinese version, only the XiaoAI assistant is available.
Detailed control through the well-developed Mi Home app, of course, is included, and room recognition is also there, which has become something of a standard for these vacuum cleaners.
