Xiaomi refutes all myths about snooping on our smartphones. The company has obtained a prestigious security certificate

It’s confirmed. Smartphones and other devices from Xiaomi don’t snoop on their users. This claim is also supported by the latest certification.

New security certificate TRUSTe

Rumors about snooping back then didn’t only concern Xiaomi, but also, for example, Huawei, which paid a hefty price for ending up on the US blacklist. Xiaomi could have been worried about the same thing too, but those concerns are gone — as suggested by the newly obtained security certificate.

That’s because Xiaomi has received another security certificate, which ensures a high level of data protection. It even became the first Chinese company to obtain a TRUSTe certificate.

This new certification obtained by Xiaomi was granted after a complete audit, the result of which confirms that Xiaomi assesses, processes, and stores personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

TRUSTe certification considered the allocation of resources for data protection used by Xiaomi, then examined its policies and standards, its awareness and security training, its monitoring, and its risk management.

Xiaomi keeps improving

One of Xiaomi’s managers said that assessing the validity of the GDPR is a key step toward continuous improvement of the company’s data and security compliance. Xiaomi has committed to meeting the highest standards of rules and procedures for protecting users’ personal data, especially for its users in the EU.

He also added that Xiaomi regularly works precisely with TRESTe, as well as with other reputable institutions around the world, to ensure that the protection of Xiaomi users’ privacy, including GDPR compliance, will continue to improve and get better, so they can offer their users trustworthy products and services.

This is further proof that when using devices from this Chinese tech giant, we really don’t need to worry about our security, data, or anything like snooping — it’s out of the question. Xiaomi has certainly fixed its reputation with this.
