Are you excited about new mobile devices from the Chinese company Xiaomi? The brand is preparing its upcoming releases with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chips. Here’s their list, revealed as part of new information leaks.
We can look forward to 12 upcoming devices
New flagship smartphones in the Xiaomi 12 series impressed not only with a powerful processor but also with a modern LTPO display. Now, we’re also learning about other versions and different models being prepared.
The leak comes from the well-known source Digital Chat Station and was shared via the Chinese social network Weibo. In the screenshot, we can see 12 code names for the upcoming models that correspond to twelve smartphones in development.
The first four Xiaomi model code names are “munch“, “rubens“, “matisse” and “fog“. Essentially, these are internal labels for devices from the upcoming Redmi K50 series. Specifically, it should include Redmi K50, K50 Pro, K50 Plus, and the K50 Gaming Edition, following the pattern of the previous generation.
Leaks point to Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and Dimensity 8000
Based on what we know, Xiaomi has officially revealed that it will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipsets, including within the Redmi K50 smartphone series. Digital Chat Station also reports in its post that two models from the K50 series will include different processors. Specifically, it will be Snapdragon 870 and also Dimensity 8000.
The other two models on the list, code-named „thor“ and „loki“, are allegedly Xiaomi’s entry into the premium flagship phone segment focused on powerful cameras. The source said that both of these smartphones will be equipped with the top Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and will feature flagship sensors for high-quality photos aimed at mobile photography enthusiasts.
A mid-range offering will be there as well—or even foldable smartphones
As for the last six models on the list, they have code names „light“, „thunder“, „zizhan“, „zijin“, „taoyao“ and „opal“. These devices are internal labels for the upcoming foldable Xiaomi MIX Flip and MIX Fold 2, or for the next mid-range series marked as Redmi Note 12.
Digital Chat Station also states that Xiaomi will equip its foldable devices with the flagship processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Redmi Note 12 series should then offer an unannounced mid-range chipset – Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
Xiaomi has already announced that the Redmi K50 series will be officially unveiled in just a few weeks, during February 2022. According to the official poster, one of the devices will include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, as well as a 4700 mAh battery supporting 120 W charging and dual liquid-based cooling with a Vapor Chamber label.
