Today, Xiaomi officially announced that the Xiaomi 13 smartphone series and the MIUI 14 rollout will be unveiled on December 1st at a major Chinese conference. The surprise is that it will also show a new generation of its premium smartwatches there.
The design is based on the predecessor
Xiaomi has even shown the official poster for the Watch S2, so we can better understand their design. At first glance, they strongly resemble their predecessors in the form of the Xiaomi Watch S1.
Once again, we’re looking at a round design. The case will most likely be made of stainless steel, just like the predecessor. The Xiaomi Watch S2 already look very premium at first sight.
Unlike the Watch S1, which could also be bought in the sport version Active, the manufacturer doesn’t mention anything similar for the second generation. It’s possible, after all, that the Xiaomi Watch S2 Active model will hit the market a bit later.
It looks like we can expect a bigger display
As for the display, it seems to be a little larger than the 1.43-inch screen on the original watch. Again, we’ll be getting AMOLED technology.
However, it’s obvious that the thickness will be slightly smaller, which could also mean lower weight while keeping the same materials. A somewhat larger battery would also be a welcome addition.
Metal body paired with leather straps
In the video, we can also see that the stainless-steel case will be complemented with leather straps to add a touch of luxury. For now, we’ve been able to see a blue and beige leather strap.
Still, we’d appreciate a more refined notification response system—especially when it comes to replying to notifications. Since the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 already has this feature, we see no reason why the watch shouldn’t be able to do the same as well.
