Besides the new smartphones Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, at this manufacturer’s October event we also got new smartwatches called Xiaomi Watch S3. These watches also feature innovative modular parts, thanks to which you can customize the design.
Xiaomi Watch S3: Modular smartwatches with Bluetooth 5.2
Previous leaks suggested that the Xiaomi 14 series would also be joined by next-generation smartwatches. This leak has now become reality, and at today’s press conference we got a new model, Xiaomi Watch S3.
In fact, we’re seeing the first smartwatches that offer a new operating system HyperOS. This is a key element when it comes to linking with other products from the Xiaomi ecosystem. On top of that, they’re now packed with new features like eSIM, for calls without needing to carry the smartphone itself.
1.43″ AMOLED, dual-band heart rate measurement and HyperOS
The circular design of these watches is complemented by modular watch-dial parts that you can customize together with the strap depending on your mood. This is a truly unique feature in this segment, definitely not something you’d expect as a given. Even with this option, the watches still have sensible dimensions 47 x 47 x 12 mm and a weight of 44 grams.
On the front you’ll find a 1.43″ AMOLED display with Always-On support. It has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Thanks to that, the watch delivers the smoothness of mid-range smartphones, which is definitely impressive. The maximum clarity gives you 326 ppi, and the maximum brightness reaches up to 600 nits. The construction itself offers improved water and dust resistance with a 5ATM certification.
There are up to 150 sports modes, as well as heart rate monitoring (GNSS, dual-phase sensor), blood oxygen levels, plus sleep or stress tracking. There’s also an ambient light sensor and eSIM connectivity, so you can use the watch on its own, without your smartphone. However, a cheaper version without this feature will also be available.
For solid connectivity and pairing with your smartphone, it’s taken care of by Bluetooth 5.2. A major step forward is the above-mentioned HyperOS operating system. We don’t have many details about this watch version yet, but the manufacturer promises excellent connectivity with other Xiaomi products.
The built-in battery has a capacity of 486 mAh, with the resulting battery life ranging from 15 days of standard use (standard version) to 7 days of standard use (eSIM version). Battery life will drop a bit when you use the Always-On feature.
