Xiaomi Watch S4 are officially here: Beautiful AMOLED, health tracking, AI support, and eSIM

The conference organized by Xiaomi today is already behind us, and several new products were unveiled that are definitely worth your attention.

One of them is the new generation of smartwatches called Xiaomi Watch S4, featuring a metal body, interchangeable straps, and a replaceable bezel modeled after its predecessor.

In addition, it comes with the new HyperOS 2.0 system and features like intercom mode or special gestures for control. It’s also important to note that the conference was meant for the Chinese market, and global availability of the products is not yet known.

A beautiful display and a quality build

New Xiaomi Watch S4 smartwatches follow the design of their predecessor with a circular 1.43″ AMOLED display with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch and a maximum brightness of up to 1500 nits, ensuring excellent readability even in the harshest conditions. The refresh rate is the standard 60 Hz, which is more than enough for a smartwatch.

Their elegant metal body houses a pair of buttons – a standard button plus a rotating crown that’s also “clickable”. A replaceable bezel and straps in collaboration with a wide range of watch faces will help you customize the watch to match your style perfectly.

Accurate health and sports monitoring

Integration of a complete sensor suite enables tracking of sports and vital functions with 98.2% accuracy compared to the standard.

They provide continuous tracking of heart rate, blood oxygen saturation SpO2, sleep activity monitoring, measuring blood pressure, breathing exercises, and much more.

Support for over 150 different sports activities ensures that everyone will find their own. It also includes a pro running mode that tracks running dynamics and vertical oscillation.

eSIM support and long battery life

The Xiaomi Watch S4 comes with Bluetooth support only, with no option for data connectivity. We’ll likely see an eSIM version too, which will allow you to make calls or reply to messages without needing a constant connection to your smartphone.

There’s also a new intercom mode that lets you use the watch like a walkie-talkie and communicate with other users of the same watches.

As for battery life, the base Bluetooth version lasts up to 15 days of standard usage on a single charge. With the Always On Display enabled, battery life drops significantly to 5 days. The eSIM watch version has a slightly shorter battery life: 7 days under standard use, while more intensive usage reduces it to just 3 days.

Thanks to fast charging, the watch will be ready for up to a 2-day battery life in as little as 5 minutes.

HyperOS 2.0 and interesting features

The Xiaomi Watch S4 runs on the latest version of the operating system HyperOS 2.0, ensuring perfect synchronization with your smartphone and support for many apps and smart features. It also includes integration of a new artificial intelligence HyperAI, which, at least for now, will remain limited to local, Chinese users.

An interesting feature is gesture control for Mijia devices with hand gestures, where a simple finger snap lets you trigger different actions. It even includes a control center for managing smart home devices from the Xiaomi ecosystem. There’s also a NFC chip, but it will only be used to store public transport cards, padlocks, or car keys. Mention of contactless payments via the NFC chip wasn’t made.

Price and availability

The new generation of smartwatches Xiaomi Watch S4 is now available for sale in both the standard Bluetooth version and an eSIM-supported version. On the Chinese market, prices start at 999 yuan (130 €) for the base model and 1199 yuan (156 €) for the eSIM version. Their global availability is not known yet, and we’ll have to wait a bit longer for their official introduction.
