The Chinese company Xiaomi is bringing another new home product to the household via its crowdfunding platform Youpin. It’s a new mattress that can even understand your sleep.
New mattress on the Xiaomi Youpin platform
The new 8 brand product is focused specifically on sleep quality, and its smart features are built right into the mattress. More than a thousand sensors will evaluate your sleep and try to improve its quality.
The official name of this product is AI 8H smart sleep mattress, and its technical specifications are already available on the Xiaomi Youpin platform. In practice, it’s a mattress equipped with artificial intelligence and the aforementioned number of sensors that will monitor your sleep in detail.
If you think these sensors might bother you while sleeping, the manufacturer states that you truly can’t feel them. This is mainly due to the material used—graphene—which in this case adapts to the weight of the human body, and this material is also very light and thin.
As part of the crowdfunding campaign, two versions of the smart mattresses will be offered. The first mattress will include 1024 sensors, and the second even up to 2048 sensors. However, it’s a mattress for two people, so the higher number of sensors is understandable.
Since this is a smart mattress, it also includes connectivity via the Mijia mobile app. The app evaluates your sleep results and also offers you various tips to improve your sleep. However, it’s not the only smart feature—your mattress also has the option to set several timers or alarms that you can customize or set as your standard alarm.
Price and availability of the product
The smart mattress from Xiaomi will first be the subject of a crowdfunding campaign, which kicks off on 3 August 2021. The product will be available in different sizes, and its price will start from 1799 Chinese yuan. That’s about €234 / $278 at current exchange rates. We don’t know yet about global availability of this product.
