Xiaomi’s Chinese subsidiary brand, Yeelight, is joining the Razer Chroma Connect program. It brings smooth integration for RGB backlighting, which will surely delight more than one gaming fan or users of Razer products. The partnership between Yeelight and Razer was also announced at the press conference.
Yeelight and the Razer Chroma Connect program
On October 10, 2020, the Razer Con 2020 press conference took place, featuring new products, games, and demos. At this event, Yeelight, one of the subsidiary brands of the Chinese company Xiaomi, announced a new partnership with Razer.
Yeelight is also directly involved in the Razer Chroma Connect program, which is meant to ensure high-quality synchronized lighting between its own products and Razer products with Chroma technology.
A press release states that starting today (October 10, 2020), players can connect their lights to devices that support Razer Chroma. In addition, the new partnership will also extend to gaming titles like Overwatch, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and more.
More Yeelight products are coming
At first, RGB lighting with connectivity via Razer Chroma technology will be supported by products such as Yeelight Smart LED Bulb 1S (Color) and Yeelight Smart LED Lightstrip 1S. However, users of these devices will need to update the firmware in the Yeelight app. The quick guide includes several steps.
First, users will need to download the Yeelight Chroma Connector add-on from the Razer or Yeelight websites. Next, you’ll need to enable the product’s LAN control in the app.
Just go to the Device – Device name – More – LAN Control – Toggle on section. Then, the Yeelight products should connect automatically to Razer Chroma technology.
Razer Chroma is a handy technology that enables synchronization across multiple Razer products as well as other lighting products. Within this technology, several well-known manufacturers are already supported, such as Philips with its Hue lights. The Razer brand also allows third parties to access its lighting protocol through the corresponding API.
As for the partnership, Kushal Tandon, Director of Software Marketing at Razer, says: „Players now have the freedom to choose between different Yeelight LED bulbs and light strips that enable integration with Razer Chroma technology for a truly colorful gaming RGB experience.“
Yeelight’s manufacturer also clarified that, in addition to the products mentioned above, it will introduce more lighting solutions compatible with Razer Chroma technology this year.
