Xiaomi has not yet officially unveiled its new smartwatch Xiaomi Watch 2, and yet it has appeared in the lineup of the first European retailers. Among them is also a well-known e-shop from Slovakia.
Xiaomi Watch 2: These are the expected specs
Xiaomi Watch 2 will come with a round shape and a silicone strap, available in matte white or matte black. On the front you’ll find a 1.43″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels.
And a 46 mm case made of aluminum, instead of stainless steel, compared to the more expensive model Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro.
Performance is handled by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, complemented by the Wear OS operating system. The watch will offer heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring (SpO2), as well as built-in GPS and water- and dust-resistance with a 5 ATM certification.
When it comes to connectivity, Xiaomi Watch 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.2 technology, but it also supports Wi-Fi and NFC. A major limitation is the lack of LTE connectivity, which is offered only by the more expensive “Pro” version.
Xiaomi states the same 65-hour battery life on a single charge for both watches, the Watch 2 and Watch 2 Pro, which suggests the battery capacity is the same. It’s capped at 495 mAh. In terms of endurance, the Watch 2 Pro with the Always-On feature enabled lasted about two days, according to testing by the portal Gsmarena.com.
Price and availability of the new smartwatches
But the fact that it’s available in some European e-shops is still not the same as an official sale of the smartwatch. The watch was also listed by the Slovak retailer Mobilonline.sk, however, currently this model can’t be ordered.
The Xiaomi Watch 2 should be a cheaper version of the smartwatch compared to the Watch 2 Pro. Several sellers in Belgium are charging around 200 € for these watches.
If we look at the selling price of the Pro model, which started at 270 € (without LTE) or 330 € (with LTE), it’s a really interesting deal. However, we expect Xiaomi Watch 2’s official retail price to be in the range of 220 – 230 €. Let’s see how the Chinese manufacturer ultimately surprises us.
