Our favorite Chinese company Xiaomi has officially released a list of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones from its ecosystem that will end software support.

These smartphones have landed on the support end list

The support end list (EOS – “end of support”) includes devices that, starting this month (02/2025), will no longer receive official HyperOS and Android updates, along with the necessary regular security updates.

This is the complete list of devices that will end software support:

  • Redmi Note 11 SE
  • Redmi Note 11S 5G
  • Redmi Note 11S
  • Redmi Note 11
  • Redmi Note 11 5G
  • POCO M4 Pro
  • Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
  • POCO X4 Pro 5G
  • Redmi 10C
  • Redmi 10 2022

The main Android operating system updates bring key features directly from Google. Beyond that, these smartphones also won’t receive any further enhancements integrated through the MIUI custom skin, or any other new versions of HyperOS.

Support usually ends for older devices that have been on the market for more than two years. That means, for example, a mid-range device like POCO X4 5G or Redmi Note 11, both released in 2022, has already completed the guaranteed 2 (or 3) operating system updates and three years of security.

Ironically, even more important is the absence of security patches and bug fixes. Long-term security vulnerabilities can lead to data leaks. However, your smartphone can still get them via an alternative route, by installing your own ROM.

What can you do with your device after it ends?

If your smartphone is on the list, the first thing we can recommend is switching to a newer Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO model with long-term software support. This is the safest option when it comes to protecting personal data.

Another solution is switching to an alternative ROM, such as LineageOS or Pixel Experience, which in some cases can extend the device’s lifespan.

The fact that Xiaomi will end software updates—and thus safe use for some devices—is nothing unusual. By freeing up some space for older devices, the manufacturer’s software team can focus on better support for current devices.
