POCO F8 Ultra is a phone that no longer hides its ambitions. This model isn’t a “budget flagship”. It’s a proper flagship—one that can compete with the top smartphones of the year in multiple aspects. Just look at the specs and you’ll instantly understand why the manufacturer aimed high.

Our reader Marián used our extra service with VIP support, this is what he wrote
Our fan and reader Marián decided to use our extra service, where we fully handle the order so the customer has absolutely nothing to worry about. Of course, we also provide VIP support on our side, which includes resolving any issues with the shipment, damaged goods (it doesn’t happen) or a warranty claim. Marián wrote about our service in our Xiaomi Planet Facebook group:
Hi, so it’s already home and it’s awesome: the POCO F8 Ultra Black 16 + 512 GB Global Version from the Spanish warehouse. I thought it would arrive during the holidays, but it came only after the New Year, though it was worth waiting a bit—it’s a great machine. But I want to leave a positive review – I used VIP support with an extra charge to the price of the phone, and I don’t regret it, because I haven’t ordered a phone like this before. The admin ordered the phone to my address and kept communicating with me as soon as the order status changed in any way. Thanks to him again for that, and I’ll definitely use this ordering method again in the future and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you 📱😉— I feel fantastic
Nothing was spared on the build or the hardware itself
It looks more premium than its cheaper “Pro” sibling. The dimensions 163.3 × 77.8 mm and thickness of either 7.9 mm or 8.3 mm (depending on the version) give it an elegant silhouette. The weight 218 – 220 g is reasonable for such a large display.

The front is protected by tough glass, the construction is aluminum, and it also has enhanced durability with an IP68 certification. That means the phone can handle being submerged in fresh water to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes—but these are not lab test values and it’s not a recommendation to use the phone in pools or the sea.

POCO with F8 Ultra also builds on a more durable body. The back uses glass fiber, which helps keep the weight under control while also improving resistance to cracking. The exterior finish uses third-generation nanomaterials, which are better at resisting stains and wear and also more eco-friendly, as they come from natural silica material without aggressive solvents. This is completed by POCO protective glass, which handles scratches and minor drops better. All of it is sealed with an aluminum alloy metal frame, strengthening both the mid-frame and the camera module.

The display belongs to the absolute top tier
The biggest draw is the display. The front is home to a 6.9″ AMOLED panel that can reach extreme values: 3500 nits of maximum brightness, LTPO refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, support for 68 billion colors, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and 2560 Hz PWM.
It’s one of the best displays POCO has ever used, and you can tell at first glance. 3500 cd/m² means the panel can maintain brightness over roughly a quarter of the screen area, so even in direct sunlight the image stays very easy to read.
New is also the POCO HyperRGB AMOLED technology itself. The panel uses a full-fledged RGB subpixel structure and, while preserving details comparable to 2K displays, it cuts power consumption by up to about 19.5% versus the previous generation.
It covers a wide color gamut of 100% DCI-P3 and in the gaming Turbo mode supports 2560 Hz Instant Touch sampling, which you can feel in fast FPS games. POCO also uses new M10 emissive materials with an improved red subpixel, boosting light efficiency while reducing power use—so the display can be both brighter and more power-efficient.
The display is also designed with your eyes in mind. It features all-day DC dimming without aggressive PWM flicker at low brightness levels. It earned three TÜV Rheinland certifications—covering a lower share of the blue component at the hardware level, low flicker, and a “circadian-friendly” mode that adjusts color temperature to interfere as little as possible with your sleep cycle.
The minimum brightness drops as low as 1 cd/m², which is great for reading in complete darkness. The 2.0 circular polarization technology provides a more natural light feel, fewer color shifts at different viewing angles, and more consistent colors and brightness.
The under-display fingerprint reader is ultrasonic and integrated into the display. Compared to the previous generation, the manufacturer claims up to 83% shorter fingerprint-reading time—unlocking is faster, and it also works reliably even with slightly damp fingers. The panel itself has exceptionally thin bezels: the bottom chin is just 1.68 mm, and the side edges are about 1.5 mm, giving the phone a very modern look and a higher screen-to-body ratio of roughly 94.25%.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and VisionBoost D8: performance on steroids
Inside, there’s the latest chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3 nm). It’s a chip that beats today’s leaders in most benchmark tests, and thanks to the 2× 4.6 GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L + 6× 3.62 GHz Phoenix M configuration, it delivers peak performance even under long-term heavy loads. Graphics are handled by Adreno 840, ready for high-FPS gaming as well as demanding AI calculations.
According to internal tests, it reaches AnTuTu scores of around 3,944,934 points, putting it right at the very top of the mobile market. Qualcomm claims roughly +20% higher CPU performance and +35% better efficiency compared to the previous generation, while the new Adreno GPU brings about 23% more performance and lower power draw under sustained load. AI NPU performance is improved by about 37%, so the phone handles advanced AI features with plenty of headroom.
You can choose 12 GB or 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM with a throughput of up to 9600 Mb/s, plus storage of 256 GB or 512 GB of fast UFS 4.1. Xiaomi notes that UFS 4.1 in this generation also brings improved firmware that enhances data security and handles error and outage situations better—so beyond raw speed, you also get more reliable storage.
POCO F8 Ultra also includes a dedicated image chip VisionBoost D8, which works like a second “graphics engine.” It can enhance brightness, contrast, and the HDR effect when watching videos on YouTube or Netflix, and when playing games it enables motion interpolation up to 120 FPS, so the picture stays smoother even in scenes that would otherwise drop with FPS.
Paired with AI super resolution, it can — in supported games (for example Genshin Impact, Call of Duty, or Honkai: Star Rail) — match or even surpass the original image quality at lower performance.
WildBoost and LiquidCool: stable FPS without overheating
WildBoost predicts the load of every frame, regulates performance, and tries to prevent sudden FPS drops. In internal tests during a two-hour FPS gaming session in the 120 FPS mode at an ambient temperature of 25 °C, the POCO F8 Ultra kept an average frame rate around 120 FPS, while even the lowest 1% moments remained significantly higher than on a comparable competing model, and power consumption stayed at roughly 3.9 W. This means a more consistent visual experience and less strain on the battery.
Heat dissipation is handled by the dual-layer 3D dual-channel IceLoop system with an area of up to 6700 mm². It focuses mainly on the zones with the highest heat production — the chipset area and the camera module — and uses intelligent temperature control to distribute the load so the device doesn’t overheat in the spots where you hold the phone in your hand. The result is longer sustained peak performance and, in feel, a cooler-built device.
The best camera setup in POCO so far!
The camera module is one of the biggest upgrades yet. The main sensor has 50 MP, an aperture of f/1.7, a physical size of 1/1.31″, supports dual-pixel PDAF, and OIS stabilization. This is a new Light Fusion 950 sensor that delivers significantly higher sensitivity and a wider dynamic range. The same main sensor can also be found in, for example, the flagship Xiaomi 17, so you can count on great photos.
The manufacturer states that, compared to the previous generation, light sensitivity has increased by about 43 %, while the dynamic range reaches up to 13.5 EV. Thanks to 4-in-1 binning, the sensor creates large 2.4 μm super pixels that capture more light at night and handle scenes with harsh backlighting better.
Better photos at night than the newer POCO F9 Ultra
The successor received a 200 MP main sensor, but it’s physically smaller. It’s only 1/1.56 inches, while the F8 Ultra has 1/1.31 inches. That means each pixel gets less light, and you can tell at night. Compared side-by-side in the editors’ test from Notebookcheck, the F8 Ultra focuses better and more reliably after dark. The F9 Ultra wins only in daylight, where it captures slightly finer details. You can find side-by-side shots from both phones in the article POCO F9 Ultra vs F8 Ultra camera comparison.
The second star is the 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 5× optical zoom, an equivalent focal length of 115 mm, aperture of f/3.0, PDAF, and OIS. It can focus from as close as 30 cm, meaning telephoto macro shots with less distortion and sharper detail than typical wide-angle macro shots.
In the software interface, the phone offers 10× “lossless” zoom and up to 20× ultra zoom, where it still maintains very usable image quality. The telephoto lens is optimized to handle fast snapshots in the 5× to 10× range, so photographing moving subjects isn’t a problem.
The third camera is a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle with a 102° field of view and autofocus, which can also serve as a macro lens for close-up shots. The newer F9 Ultra no longer has autofocus on the ultra-wide camera. Video goes to extremes: enjoy 8K@30 fps, 4K@120 fps, Dolby Vision support, 10-bit LOG profiles, as well as 720p@1920 fps for super slow-motion—numbers that even some ultra-premium phones don’t offer.
The front “selfie” camera has a 32 MP sensor and supports 4K@30 fps video, which vloggers and users who want higher-quality video calls will appreciate. When the camera detects more people, it can automatically switch to a wider 0.8× frame so everyone fits into the shot.
On the software side, there’s HyperAI with a new AI creative assistant that can automatically fine-tune exposure, saturation, and contrast, create dynamic collages, or convert videos into short “dynamic shots.” Of course, you also get cinematic filters, classic positive and negative, night modes, and portraits with more accurate hair and background separation thanks to a combination of data from multiple lenses.
Multimedia and a Bose 2.1 audio system with a subwoofer!
The multimedia experience is taken to the next level in the details. For the first time, POCO uses a Bose 2.1 stereo system with an integrated mini woofer. Two symmetrical 1115F stereo speakers together with a separate 1620 subwoofer create a 2.1-channel audio system with deeper bass, a wider soundstage, and overall more precise audio reproduction.
Sound is deeper, cleaner, and louder than on the F8 Pro. Plus, there’s Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Hi-Res Wireless. The 3.5mm jack is gone here, but in this category it won’t be a huge surprise—this is aimed more at wireless listening.
Top-tier connectivity, Surge T1S + T1+, and offline calls
In terms of connectivity, you’ll find top-of-the-line Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with broad codec support, NFC, an IR blaster for controlling your home electronics remotely, and even USB-C 3.2 with DisplayPort output—so you can use the phone like a computer on a monitor. Navigation supports all modern systems: GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BDS, NavIC, and QZSS, while combining multiple bands ensures faster position locking and higher accuracy in the city.
A major new feature is the pair of communication chips Xiaomi Surge T1S + Surge T1+. They optimize the mobile network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, and—according to internal measurements—deliver up to 42% better mobile signal performance, roughly 31% better Wi-Fi and BT connectivity, and about 15% better GPS accuracy compared to the version without these tuners. In practice, that means fewer dropouts, a more stable signal in “challenging” buildings, and faster connections to your headphones or smartwatches.
There’s also Xiaomi Offline Communication, which enables voice calls over a distance of up to approximately 1 km between compatible Xiaomi and POCO devices even when there’s no mobile signal or Wi‑Fi around. Just insert a SIM and sign in to your Xiaomi account. Great for festivals, hiking, or other situations where networks tend to get overloaded.
Finally, we can’t forget one of the biggest connectivity upgrades on new POCO smartphones—at least the F8 Pro and F8 Ultra—and that’s finally eSIM technology support! Fans have been asking for this for years, and POCO has finally delivered. The phone offers Dual SIM connectivity, with SIM cards that can be used as follows: Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM or Nano-SIM + eSIM or eSIM + eSIM.
HyperOS 3, Gemini, and AI features
POCO F8 Ultra runs on Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 on top, which puts a strong emphasis on AI and device-to-device connectivity. In the system, you’ll find AI writing, AI speech transcription, AI translation, intelligent search, dynamic AI wallpapers, or advanced photo edits directly in the gallery. Some features run locally, while others are handled in the cloud—depending on the specific service and your region.
One big advantage is the deep integration of the Google AI assistant Gemini. With the Gemini Overlay feature, you can bring it up over any app, Gemini Live enables real-time voice conversations, and it also naturally supports generating images or working with content from multiple apps at once.
You also get Circle to Search, which lets you simply circle the object, text, or image you’re interested in on the screen with your finger—then Google search starts instantly, without needing a screenshot or leaving the current app.
On top of that, you also get a bundle of services: 3 months of YouTube Premium for free, 100 GB Google One cloud storage for 6 months, and 3 months of Spotify Premium, depending on your region. Just activate the phone and redeem the offers through the relevant apps.
Battery, charging and real-world endurance
The battery capacity is very solid at 6500 mAh. Paired with an efficient chip, it’s a typical two-day phone even with heavier use. Xiaomi states that with a typical usage mix, the phone can last for about 15 hours of continuous use, including browsing, social media, video, and photos. What’s also interesting is that it’s a dual-cell Si/C battery with high energy density, designed to retain at least 80% of the original capacity after 1600 charging cycles. That translates to several years of daily use without a dramatic drop in battery life.
Charging is in flagship territory: 100 W wired, 50 W wireless, and even 22.5 W reverse wireless—handy for smartwatches, earbuds, or other supported devices, including smartphones. According to internal tests, going from 1 to 100% via cable takes roughly 38 minutes; with a 50 W wireless charger, you reach 50% in about half an hour.
POCO F8 Ultra supports universal 100 W PPS fast-charging protocols, so it’s compatible with quality third-party chargers—but the manufacturer recommends using a 120 W Xiaomi adapter. The charger or a wireless charging stand aren’t included in the box, which is a trend we’re seeing on several flagship models.
The phone also handles 22.5 W wired reverse charging, so you can turn it into a power bank for other devices. There’s also smart charging management, which monitors temperature, battery status, and the apps you’re using during longer charging cycles, then adjusts the charging power to reduce unnecessary overheating and help extend battery lifespan.
POCO F8 Ultra: Price and availability
Even with the F8 Ultra, POCO decided to surprise the competition a bit. The Early Bird deal for Slovakia, valid from December 2 to December 26, 2025, is even more attractive for this model.
In Slovakia, only the top version will be officially available with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage; during the launch promo, the price drops to €749.90, while the standard recommended retail price will be around €899.90.
