Lei Jun is the co-founder and currently the CEO of the Chinese company Xiaomi. Just recently, at a conference evaluating the third quarter of this year from a business perspective, he also shared his thoughts on the development and use of the new 5G network concept. In addition, we can look forward to a very affordable 5G smartphone.
5G networks will be the standard in 3 – 4 years
Based on available information, the Xiaomi brand plans to introduce as many as ten 5G devices in the upcoming year 2020. The assumption is that 40-50% of 5G devices will be, if we consider the domestic Chinese market. According to the brand’s CEO, a Chinese user is about 3 – 4 years away from moving into the next 5G era. Xiaomi will focus on this segment during the upcoming period.
An affordable 5G smartphone for 129 EUR already in 2021
To achieve this goal, Xiaomi will also need an affordable smartphone for everyone. Lei Jun believes that an affordable 5G device for around 1000 yuan will be available on the tech market already during 2021. That equals approximately 129, 17 EUR / 3304 CZK.
Sales growth in the third quarter increased by 4,6%, while Xiaomi is not offering discounts, and also wants to strengthen the development of 5G devices themselves, including smartphones. We’re curious to see how 5G technology from our favorite Chinese manufacturer will be implemented.
