The coronavirus affects shipments from China: Parcel dispatch has been paused for several days

1. February 2020 3 min read 0 comments

Information about the new coronavirus that has spread in the Chinese metropolis of Wu-Han is increasing every day. Over time, the virus has also appeared in several European countries.

Shipments from China are safe, however and the new virus cannot survive the entire journey to your home.

Shipments may be delayed

Although the shipments themselves are not dangerous, the virus is currently transmissible from person to person. This is exactly the dangerous situation that Chinese companies are trying to alleviate as well, and so they partially or completely pause production in their facilities.

Some workers are still working, but for example from home, and they go out into outdoor areas for fresh air only minimally.

Likewise, Xiaomi has already taken the temporary closure of its Mi Store physical stores in selected areas, mainly due to the spread of the current coronavirus. In addition, the manufacturer does not hesitate and sends material aid to the affected areas as well.

Restrictions have also hit the popular e-shop Banggood.com

The same goes for prevention measures on some of the popular Chinese e-shops. Your shipment may therefore be delayed, for example because workers are forced to take time off due to the spreading coronavirus. Shipments may also be delayed due to transport restrictions.

GearBest and Banggood with restrictions

The Guangdong province, where the cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen are located, issued a restrictive order that requires businesses to postpone their activities until 10. February 2020. This is being done in an effort to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

This date may and will most likely be extended further. In the cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, the headquarters of the largest Chinese electronics sellers are also located.

In the editorial office, we have information directly from the e-shop GearBest.com, which is currently sending shipments from the warehouse in Hong Kong (marked as HK) on time, but it is the CN warehouse (Chinese) that will dispatch shipments up to the deadline of 10.2.2020. Shipments from European warehouses are sent without restrictions, as in normal conditions.

Similarly, many workers at the e-shops Banggood.com and GearBest.com, with whom we in the editorial office communicate actively, will be fully working only until 10 February / February 2020.

If you need to deal with an issue with a parcel or a complaint, contact us after this date, because we currently do not have the ability to communicate with the sellers.
