According to the latest information from press agencies, more than 80 people have already died from the dangerous coronavirus and the number of infected is already more than 2 700. Xiaomi is introducing further preventative measures and is closing its physical Mi Store outlets.
In its virus-prevention measures, Xiaomi is setting an example
Although the topic of a dangerous virus is not the focus of our website, it is still a global event in which our favourite brand is also involved in a significant way. Xiaomi is setting an example and is actively engaged, to a large extent, in prevention and humanitarian aid.

The first significant measure by Xiaomi was introducing a new interactive feature into the voice assistant app XiaoAI in the MIUI environment. Thanks to it, every user in China can quickly learn about the current status of the outbreak and about the measures in the country.
Later, the company also began providing humanitarian aid through a medical supplies expedition, and it continues this activity even these days. Now comes the next preventative measure required by the situation.
Mi Store outlets remain closed
Starting today, provisionally until 3 February / February, the company is closing its physical Mi Store shops across the whole country. Prevention requires, as much as possible, limiting contact between residents and thus preventing the spread of the disease. If the situation requires it, Mi Store shops will remain closed even after this date.
Last but not least, this is also about protecting the company’s employees. Xiaomi is taking measures here as well. All employees have protective masks available, soap, and physical body temperature checks throughout the entire day. The employer also provides increased doses of vitamin C, which is also a good prevention against any viral illness.
As the company specifies, what will be closed is not only the stores, but they also limited contact with the public in service centres. These operate in a preventative mode as well, and the first contact was limited to phone or electronic consultation.
When it comes to purchasing products, Xiaomi recommends that customers in China use its online sales websites or the Xiaomi Mall app.
