As we’ve already gotten used to in the recent period, the general manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, keeps teasing us by sharing partial information about the specifications of the upcoming Redmi flagship phone.
What we already know about the most powerful Redmi
From the information published so far, or leaked information, we know that the new Redmi phone will be powered by the currently most powerful Snapdragon 855 processor. The front of the phone should feature an AMOLED display with a 6.39-inch diagonal and 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution with no notches.
The 20 MP front camera should be housed in a sliding module. The primary rear camera is expected to have a 48 MP resolution, and two more will support it: 13 MP and 8 MP. One of them should come with an ultra-wide-angle sensor. The device will also get an NFC module and the popular 3.5 mm jack.
From a recently leaked photo of the front film, we learned that the new Redmi should be called Redmi K20 Pro and, in addition to the previously mentioned specs, it will also have a 4000 mAh battery and fast charging support with a power of up to 27 W.
More new details
However, yesterday Lu Weibing praised himself again on social media Weibo. This time, with a picture of the lock screen of the new device. From the preview, it’s clear that the new Redmi will feature a fingerprint scanner built directly into the display.
Under the posted image, the manager said he’s satisfied with the battery life. He added that the smartphone’s battery performance exceeded his expectations.

The launch of the new flagship is coming soon
And one more update. It seems like Xiaomi and Redmi top management is getting ahead of itself with its statements. According to the Weibo account of Tang Mu – the General Manager of the Xiaomi Smart Hardware division – an event is set to take place in China on May 13 / května 2019, where the new Redmi flagship could be unveiled.
We know that Redmi is taking part in preparing another smartphone with a Snapdragon 730 processor, which should also include a front pop-up camera and, therefore, a notch-less display. Whether our assumptions will be confirmed and whether 13.5.2019 and the Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 will be announced in China, we should find out soon.
