The situation regarding the coronavirus Covid-19, which started spreading from China to the whole world, affected not only the health of the global population but also the global economy. Many factories had to completely close down operations for several weeks or even months.

Unfortunately, it also hit parcel deliveries from China to a significant extent—shipments may be delayed for a very long time.

With the well-known Gearbest seller, the familiar EU Priority Line shipping disappeared completely, which is basically key when buying from China. The shipping channel had been experiencing issues since the beginning of April—parcels weren’t being delivered and were being sent back to Gearbest warehouses.

The seller even removed the option to choose EU Priority Line shipping for orders entirely. Luckily, the whole situation is calming down, and one of the biggest Chinese electronics sellers is restoring this important shipping method again.

What’s interesting is that for most smartphones, shipping is now for a smaller fee, whereas it used to be completely free. Still, it’s definitely nothing that would discourage you from buying.

Just because the EU Priority Line shipping method was cancelled, the seller didn’t ship thousands of parcels heading to Europe since the beginning of April. They wanted to avoid customer complaints about customs fees that would definitely arise for these shipments. They would have had to use other shipping channels that aren’t designed for customs-free delivery.

What are the advantages of EU Priority Line?

The biggest and main advantage of this shipping method for parcels from China to Europe is that the end customer doesn’t have to pay any customs fees upon delivery—meaning VAT or customs duty (clo).

That means you, as a customer, pay only the item price and possibly low shipping fees, and then you just wait for delivery of the parcel for 2-3 weeks. Door-to-door delivery to your home is handled by courier.
