VIDEO: This gaming test shows how efficient the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is in performance and power consumption in Xiaomi 12S Ultra

The Xiaomi 12S ultra model is equipped with the currently most powerful processor for Android operating system devices. In the gaming test, it proved that it can go toe-to-toe with even some gaming smartphones, and in a few categories it even beat the competitor from Apple.

It even beats the iPhone 13 Pro Max

iPhones are known for delivering higher performance than Android devices. Youtuber Golden Reviewer also revealed that Xiaomi 12S Ultra is a better gaming device than the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and that you’d rather choose a smartphone from the Chinese giant over these two devices.

The gaming test ran on a very popular game, Genshin Impact, which is quite demanding in terms of graphics. To display full details, you need high computing power, which, as it turns out, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra really has.

Is Android better than Apple iPhone?

It seems that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor in the smartphone changes performance. It’s a huge improvement over its predecessor, but also over other processors used in Android smartphones.

Extreme tests revealed that the 12S Ultra ran at a higher frame rate, averaging 57.7 fps. Other flagship smartphones from 2022 ranked much lower.

Plus, it didn’t even lead to excessive device overheating, and the tester measured the highest temperature of 42,3°C. Efficient heat dissipation is also a new feature of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was the coolest among all tested smartphones, where you couldn’t miss pieces like the iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE 2022, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

According to the tester, this is also due to the chip manufacturer being changed—now it’s the world’s largest TSMC plant. The previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 generation was produced in Samsung factories.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra beat only Apple’s tablet

It’s worth noting that the iPad Mini 6, powered by the A15 Bionic chip, delivered a higher frame rate than the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and also had a lower temperature. But since it’s a tablet, it doesn’t belong in a direct comparison with a Xiaomi smartphone.

In the top five ranking, the iPhone SE 2022 took third place. Fourth place went to the iPad Air 2022 tablet, and fifth place was snatched by the Redmi K50 smartphone, which has a MediaTek processor inside—specifically the Dimensity 8100 model.
