The new graphical interface for Xiaomi smartphones, HyperOS, also brings several new and advanced customization options. These customization options include detailed lock screen editing.
HyperOS: First lock screen screenshots
HyperOS will be part of our lives in just a few weeks. Along with the launch of the flagship smartphone series Xiaomi 14, we’ll also see changes in the company’s own software, which will replace the current heavy graphical interface called MIUI.
What we know so far is a revamped system home screen, as well as a quick settings menu. However, some system apps should also get changes, such as the camera app. Xiaomi has also prepared several brand-new features, including lock screen customization.
The new lock screen settings options are something of a combination and inspiration from Apple's iOS 16 and iOS 17 operating systems. They are also complemented by customization options from Google, which are part of the Android 14 operating system.
In the new HyperOS, you’ll have three different lock screen customization styles available: Classic, Magazine, and Rhombus. The classic one shows the time, date, and weather information, while the magazine style lets you display your own text in large letters. That way, you can always keep a text you choose visible on the screen.
A wide range of customization options, inspired by Apple too
Another improvement is the creation of a depth map. That means, e.g. in the case of the “Magazine” layout, the model’s hair is placed as a layer over its own text. This depth effect is visually very appealing. In addition, the diamond style is very similar to the new clock widgets Google Double Line. Xiaomi also offers various other clock faces in the Rhombus design.
You can also add special effects to your wallpapers. They look quite noticeably similar to the built-in wallpapers from Nothing. However, if you don’t want to use these effects, the Chinese manufacturer also provides a standard lock screen you’re used to right now.
In general, though, almost every component on the new HyperOS lock screen can be customized. The clock display style, font style, or the date display. Weather forecast display, UV index, wind speed, temperature, or humidity. All of this will be based on your preferences.
