Everything transfers, including your contacts, SMS messages, media from the gallery, and even your home screen layout. For security reasons, however, app passwords aren’t transferred. So we hope you remember them—or that you’ve saved them somewhere safely.
All the magic is done by Mi Mover
On your old smartphone, install the Mi Mover app from the Play Store. On both phones, turn on Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth. On the newly unboxed Xiaomi model, this app will be preinstalled—just open it and choose that it’s a new (New) device.
Next, select whether your old phone is from Xiaomi or another one with the Android operating system. After successful installation on your original smartphone, open the app and allow access to the system parts it needs.
As soon as the old phone recognizes the new one, start the transfer by clicking the name of the new device. Choose what you want to move, and data transfer can begin. It may take a while. During the transfer, keep both phones close to each other and—if possible—don’t use them. The duration depends on how much data you’re transferring.
Finally, sign in to the accounts in the apps—and that should be everything. This video will give you an overview of the process. We’d be happy if you share what smartphone or other tech gadget you found under the Christmas tree.
