The MIUI Gallery will soon get a great feature: It can automatically recognize text from a photo

Our favorite Chinese company Xiaomi is preparing a new feature for its MIUI Gallery. It should arrive in the upcoming software update of the app.

Just a few days ago, we witnessed the postponement of a press conference due to the death of the former Chinese president. The Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, products, as well as the MIUI 14 interface, will arrive with a delay at the next event.

Even so, the Chinese company keeps developing new features, and one of them will appear on your smartphone or tablet with MIUI version 13 soon, as part of the app MIUI Gallery.

If you know Google Lens from Google, which is part of the popular Google Photos service, something similar is now being attempted by Xiaomi in its own app. The devices will be able to recognize text with the new feature, and you’ll also be able to interact with it. The competing iOS platform focuses on text as well with its feature “Live Text”.

Xiaomi also waited a while to perfect this feature and integrate it into MIUI 13. You’ll be able to spot it very easily: in the gallery, there will be an icon for detecting text from any photo you have saved on your device.

Good news for MIUI add-on users 13

Another advantage is that you don’t have to wait for an update MIUI 14. to use this feature. The new feature has already appeared in the Chinese version of MIUI 13 and, most likely, will also arrive in Europe—within a few weeks.

Even though Xiaomi is developing the fourteenth generation of its interface, it continuously adds new features to the current version as well. And that’s also good news for users with older models that won’t get the new MIUI 14 version.

Along with the aforementioned feature in the MIUI Gallery app, more updates are planned for the coming weeks as well. In particular, it’s about a schedule of system updates, where many Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices will receive software in the form of Android 13.
