The new 27"-inch Redmi monitor offers 2K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate for less than 200 euros

There are never enough good monitors on the market. That’s what Redmi said too, and unveiled a new 27-inch monitor with 2K resolution. It also comes with a pleasantly low price tag.

The biggest draw is the display

Redmi 2K Display is the official name of the new monitor. As the name suggests, it will aim to impress with high resolution for a truly sensible price. The monitor itself has fairly slim bezels, so they won’t be a distracting element during work. Its thickness at the thinnest point is only 7,5 millimeters.

The display is an IPS LCD type with a 27"-inch diagonal. Its selling point will be the resolution itself, reaching 2K level (2 560 x 1 440 pixels). To make the picture as smooth as possible, it’s helped by a high display refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Those are values that even reach entry-level gaming monitors.

The Redmi 2K Display monitor also offers a 8-bit color depth with 127-percent coverage of the sRGB spectrum. You’ll also like the high contrast 10 000 000:1, and the maximum brightness is 300 nits. For basic office work, that’s more than enough.

Thanks to the IPS display technology, the monitor is easy to read from different angles without changing the colors being shown. The manufacturer states that it should provide the same color rendering even when viewed from a 178-degree viewing angle.

Ports and connectivity

On the back, the Redmi 2K Display monitor includes connectors such as 1x VGA, 1x HDMI in version 1.4, a 3,5-millimeter connector for headphones, and a power connector for mains power.

For now, the Redmi 2K Display will be available only in China’s domestic market for 1399 yuan, which is about €183. For a monitor with this kind of specs, that’s a really great price. We’ll see if this product eventually makes it to the global market. It will definitely be available soon from international retailers, though.
