At the big spring conference, Xiaomi, we were also expecting the unveiling of the 4th generation of the Mi MIX series of smartphones. But we only got the manufacturer’s first foldable smartphone, Mi MIX Fold. Even though it’s a great product, loyal fans are waiting specifically for Mi MIX 4.
New unofficial renders
Ice universe shared new renders of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 smartphone on their Twitter account. They’re convinced that the manufacturer will deploy the new front camera technology for the first time.
That should be hidden under the display, which is an element we’ve seen so far with (about) just one manufacturer. We’re very curious how Xiaomi will handle this technology, since we know that cameras hidden under the display have focusing problems, caused by the fact that there’s still a display layer above the camera.
The front display should even be curved at the edges, delivering the expected premium design. Note that these are only a few unofficial renders, which may not reflect what the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will be like. The possible launch date for this smartphone is currently unclear.
Expected specifications
Based on leaks, the device will come with a QuadHD+ AMOLED panel, and you’ll get a high refresh rate of up to 120 Hz with an integrated fingerprint reader. The most powerful Snapdragon 888 processor with support for 5G networks shouldn’t be missing.
In terms of cameras, we should see a primary Sony lens with a resolution of 50 MPx. It will be complemented by a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 5-times optical zoom.
Famous Mi MIX series
The Mi MIX series has always been special — it was very easy to distinguish from the competition, and it always introduced something never seen before. The first generation brought minimal bezels around the display, and the second generation continued this trend.
In the third model lineup, it shone thanks to a sliding mechanism. We also mustn’t forget the great concept of Mi MIX Alpha, where the display was almost around the entire perimeter of the smartphone’s body.
