Design, build quality, and durability

Right from the start, it feels more compact than typical “bricks.” Its build with dimensions of 157.5 × 75.3 × 8 mm weighs just 199 grams, and in your hand it feels surprisingly light. The front is dominated by a durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i—you’ll feel it when using the phone. It’s strong, tough, and handles scratches well.

The whole body is completed by a aluminum frame, and there’s also IP68 certification—so submerging it to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes shouldn’t do any harm.

However, it’s worth noting that IP68 is achieved under laboratory conditions in clean fresh water. The back is made of a single piece of glass that POCO mills and engraves so that the pattern and matte parts are created on one panel. During production, they use multiple CNC processes and dozens of production steps. The result is a very clean, premium look. The metal frame is gently rounded, so even with long-term use it doesn’t press into your palm.

Display: POCO HyperRGB and first-ever M10 AMOLED

The display is a real treat. POCO has fitted a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1156 × 2510 px, a density of ~419 ppi, and—most importantly—an extreme maximum brightness of 3500 nits. In practice, that means everything stays readable even in direct sunlight. The manufacturer states that up to 25 % of the panel area can reach this level, so it’s not just a theoretical “peak.”

This is a completely new generation of the POCO HyperRGB display. It has a full RGB subpixel structure, so each pixel is made up of separate red, green, and blue sub-elements. The result is a sharper image—comparable in terms of detail to 2K panels, but with lower power consumption.

The panel supports up to 68 billion colors, covers 100 % DCI-P3, and offers a 120 Hz refresh rate with adaptive switching. In gaming Turbo mode, the touch layer can reach up to 2560 Hz Instant Touch sampling.

What’s interesting is that it’s the world’s first M10 AMOLED in a POCO phone—the new red emissive materials increase light efficiency by more than 11.4 %. So the display is not only brighter, but also more power-efficient. The lowest brightness level goes down to 1 cd/m², so it won’t blind you at night. Bezels are extremely thin—the bottom chin is just 1.68 mm, and the side edges are around 1.5 mm. Overall, POCO F8 Pro looks more modern, and the image seems to “float” out of the frame.

Eye protection and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader

POCO also focused on eye comfort. The display features all-day DC dimming, so it doesn’t flicker with the typical PWM method at lower brightness levels. It received three TÜV Rheinland certifications—for reduced blue light (a hardware solution), for low flicker, and for a “circadian-friendly” mode that adjusts colors according to the time of day.

The next update is an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader. POCO claims that registering a fingerprint is up to 83% faster than the previous generation, and unlocking works reliably even with a slightly damp finger. The position is more natural than on older models, so your finger lands exactly where you expect.

Snapdragon 8 Elite and benchmark numbers

The computing power is handled by the new chip generation Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm). Technically, it’s a setup of 2× 4.32 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L + 6× 3.53 GHz Phoenix M, which can handle demanding games, multitasking, and AI tasks without any issues. The graphics side is taken care of by Adreno 830.

POCO directly states an AnTuTu score of 3,284,129 points, placing it among the most powerful chips on the market. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the manufacturer claims +45% multi-core CPU performance at –52% power consumption, +44% GPU performance at –46% power consumption, and up to +105% AI performance with +45% better energy efficiency. In short: you get more than enough performance, but the chip uses less power than last year’s flagships.

The memory setup doesn’t lag either: 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM with a throughput of 9600 Mb/s, and storage of 256 GB or 512 GB of type UFS 4.1. The new UFS 4.1 version comes with improved firmware features that boost data security and reliability during power drops. There’s no microSD slot here, but honestly—no card can beat UFS 4.1 in performance.

WildBoost and LiquidCool: stable FPS even during long gaming sessions

POCO F8 Pro isn’t just about the “peak” number in benchmark tests. It uses WildBoost Optimization, which predicts the workload of each frame and adjusts performance so FPS don’t drop in more complex scenarios. From a gamer’s perspective, that means fewer mini-lags and steadier frame rates.

In a one-hour RPG test at maximum settings, with 60 FPS in a room at 25 °C, the manufacturer reports average FPS around 60. The minimum at the lowest 1% of frames is 57.5 FPS, the phone’s maximum temperature is only 41.8 °C, and power consumption is roughly 4 W. Those are the kinds of numbers you’d normally expect from actively cooled gaming phones.

Behind it is the new LiquidCool technology— a three-layer 3D IceLoop system. It delivers up to 40% higher thermal conductivity and 230% more surface area compared to its predecessor. The heat flow is directed away from the area where the user typically holds the phone, so the back does get warm, but your hand suffers less. That means the device can hold performance longer without throttling.

Battery and charging

The strongest point is the battery. Inside the body there’s a huge battery with a capacity of 6210 mAh, which, with normal use, will easily last two days without any problems. POCO provides indicative numbers: more than 16 hours of heavy use, over 56 hours of calls, roughly 10 hours of video calls, and similar long-lasting performance for gaming as well. It’s also interesting that after 1600 charging cycles the battery should still hold at least 80 % of the original capacity, which corresponds to several years of real-world use.

You won’t find wireless charging here, but wired charging largely makes up for it. POCO F8 Pro supports 100 W HyperCharge – from 1 to 100% you can get in about 37 minutes if you activate Top-Speed mode and keep the display off. The phone also handles universal 100W PPS and PD3.0 / QC3+ protocols, so you’ll also charge it quickly with other adapters.

The only catch: the charging adapter isn’t included. POCO recommends using a 120 W Xiaomi charger, which you may already have at home from previous models. Of course, it also supports 22.5 W wired reverse charging, so you can top up other smartphones, earbuds, or smartwatches via cable.

Camera: Light Fusion 800 and 50 MPx telephoto lens

The camera setup is another reason why the new POCO F8 Pro is worth it. The main sensor uses a Light Fusion 800 sensor with a resolution of 50 MPx, an aperture of f/1.9, a physical sensor size of 1/1.55″, supports PDAF, and of course OIS. With the Dual Native ISO Fusion Max technology, it achieves a dynamic range of up to 13.2 EV, so it handles scenes with harsh backlight as well as very dark shots with lots of detail.

The second sensor is a 50 MPx telephoto lens with an equivalent focal length of around 60 mm, an aperture of f/2.2, and 2.5× optical zoom. Together with the sensor’s 5× zoom, you can take noticeably zoomed-in shots without a significant loss of quality. The telephoto lens is ideal for portraits and dynamic scenes.

The ultra-wide camera has 8 MPx and a 120° field of view. It supports up to 8K@30 fps, or 4K@60 fps, and includes HDR10+ and gyro-EIS. The front camera offers 20 MPx, with the ability to record 1080p video at 60 fps—perfectly fine for vlogging and video calls. On the software side, you’ll also get new film filters (classic positive and negative), an AI creative assistant in the gallery that can automatically fine-tune exposure, contrast, or colors, create collages, or turn videos into “dynamic shots”—short moving sequences.

Sound, connectivity, and extra Xiaomi features

The audio setup is also top-notch—stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, plus tuning by Bose. Two dual 1115F super-linear symmetric drivers create a wider spatial effect. Don’t look for a 3.5 mm jack—the POCO F8 Pro doesn’t have one.

In connectivity, you get everything you’ll need: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 with LHDC 5.0, NFC, an infrared port, and of course an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. GPS is handled by a combination of GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BDS, plus NavIC and QZSS.

An interesting new feature is the Xiaomi Surge T1+ chip, which optimizes the signal—POCO says it delivers up to 42% better mobile connectivity and 31% improved Wi‑Fi / Bluetooth compared to the version without this tuner.

There’s also Xiaomi Offline Communication. If you have another compatible Xiaomi or POCO phone nearby, you can communicate with it by voice up to 1 km even without a mobile network or Wi‑Fi. Range and quality naturally depend on the environment, and availability of the feature may vary by region.

Finally, we can’t forget one of the biggest connectivity upgrades on new POCO smartphones—at least the F8 Pro and F8 Ultra—and that’s finally eSIM technology support! Fans have been asking for this for years, and POCO has finally delivered. The phone offers Dual SIM connectivity, with SIM cards that can be used as follows: Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM or Nano-SIM + eSIM or eSIM + eSIM.

HyperOS 3, Gemini, and AI elements

POCO F8 Pro runs on Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 as the overlay. Besides visual changes, it also brings strong AI integration. You’ll find AI writing, AI speech transcription, AI translation, AI search, dynamic AI wallpapers, and smart suggestions in the gallery. Some features are processed locally, while others are handled on the cloud—depending on the specific function and region.

A big role here is played by Gemini from Google, integrated directly as a personal AI assistant. You can call it up over the running app using the Gemini Overlay, while Gemini Live lets you have voice conversations in real time.

Of course, you also get image generation or linking to other Google services. POCO F8 Pro also supports Circle to Search — just circle or mark what you see on the display and Google search starts instantly, without you having to take a screenshot.
