Update: POCO F9 Ultra is already unveiled and on sale

This article was created before the premiere, when we only had leaks to go by. POCO F9 Ultra was officially unveiled on September 1, 2026, and today it’s already being sold normally. Official specs, prices for Slovakia, and current coupons are all compiled in a separate article: everything about POCO F9 Ultra in one place.

POCO’s new flagship has made its last stop before the launch. POCO F9 Ultra appeared in the Geekbench database, confirming both the processor and the memory size. And since Xiaomi has meanwhile launched the official premiere page, we also know the exact date when the phone will be unveiled for real.

Geekbench revealed the chip and the memory size

With the model number 26077PC53G, the phone scored 2,980 points in the single-core test and 10,030 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench 7. Under the hood is Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with an Adreno 840 GPU; the tested unit had 16 GB RAM and Android 16. The leak was brought to light by leaker Abhishek Yadav.

The system is also interesting. According to the listing, the phone will run Android 16, even though Android 17 is already out — Xiaomi is continuing its habit of presenting new devices with an older system version. According to the GSMArena database, it should get up to four major updates.

Under the new name, it’s really a Redmi K100 Pro Max

POCO F9 Ultra isn’t exactly a brand-new phone. It’s a rebranded version of the Chinese Redmi K100 Pro Max, which was introduced in China a couple of weeks ago. The main difference is the battery: while the Chinese model has 9 070 mAh, the global POCO will get a smaller one, but still huge 8 050 mAh cell with 100W charging.

In the photo above, it’s the Chinese Redmi K100 Pro Max — official POCO-version shots have already appeared, and the design is practically identical. What stands out most is the back: there’s a glowing LED ring around the camera area that reacts to notifications and music, and the phone has speakers tuned in collaboration with Bose, including a dedicated woofer.

Display with 185 Hz and 200 MP camera

Based on the leaks so far, POCO F9 Ultra will get a 6.9″ AMOLED display with 1200 × 2608 resolution, a 185 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness up to 4,500 nits. These are specs you usually only find on much more expensive flagship devices.

The camera system should feature a trio of 200 MP main sensors with optical stabilization, a 50 MP periscope with five-times optical zoom, and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Up front, there should be a 32 MP selfie camera. The phone weighs 238 grams, measures 8.5 mm, and there should be versions with 256 GB and 512 GB storage, with no card slot. However, this data is currently not officially confirmed.

Complete specs and pricing leaked already in mid-August

Geekbench isn’t the only source that revealed more about the POCO F9 series than it should have. On 13 August, the German outlet WinFuture shared the first photos and the full specs of both models along with price tags for Europe — back then, we wrote about the reduced batteries, but the prices escaped us. According to it, the POCO F9 Pro with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage is set to start at 799 €, while the POCO F9 Ultra with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage will cost 999 €.

Both phones are expected to come with IP69 durability, a flat metal frame, and an exceptionally wide camera module in the style of the iPhone 17 Pro with a Bose logo. The design is practically identical to the Chinese Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max — Xiaomi just swapped the text on the back. The price to pay for the global version is the same, too: both models will get smaller batteries than their Chinese counterparts.

The differences between the siblings boil down to three things — display size, battery, and auxiliary cameras. While the Ultra has a full 50 MP ultra-wide lens and a periscope with five-times zoom, the Pro has to make do with an 8 MP ultra-wide and a three-times zoom. The main 200 MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture is the same in both.

Heads up: this leak lists the Ultra’s display size as 6.85″, which is rounded differently from that same value written elsewhere as 6.9″. And just like with the other specifications, it’s still only unofficial information until the launch.

The presentation is scheduled for 1. September

This part is official already. Xiaomi has launched a launch page for the POCO F9 series, which includes the exact date: September 1, 2026 at 14:00 local time, with sales starting one hour after the presentation. The campaign slogan is „UltraPower Unbound”, which makes sense with a battery over 8,000 mAh.

Xiaomi is also teasing bonuses for early reservations, but for now they’re only available in Germany — you’ll get a voucher worth up to 200 € and 200 Mi Points, plus free trial periods for YouTube Premium, Spotify Premium, and Google AI Pro, along with one free screen replacement during the first six months. Official prices haven’t been published yet, and we’ll only get confirmation on launch day — but if the leak holds, we can expect 799 and 999 euros.
