POCO stuffed 10 000 mAh into the phone and even made it water-resistant. The X8 Power lasts three and a half days

Battery capacities in the mid-range have been growing for two years now, but POCO has just pushed the limit to where people start talking more about a power bank than a phone. POCO X8 Power got a silicon-carbon cell with a capacity of 10 000 mAh — and, more interestingly, the manufacturer packed it into a body with IP69K protection, so it didn’t trade durability for endurance.

Ten thousand mAh and a phone that charges other devices

The battery is the whole point of this model. Along with 10 000 mAh, POCO added 100 W HyperCharge charging and, most importantly, 27 W reverse wired charging — so the phone can top up earbuds, a watch, or even a second phone at a speed many power banks can’t match. The manufacturer promises up to three and a half days of battery life.

Notebookcheck gives more specific numbers from the manufacturer’s materials: up to 29 hours of video streaming, 45 hours on Instagram, or 29 days on standby. The price for that is a weight of 229 grams and a thickness of 8.65 mm. For comparison, the POCO X7 had a 5 500 mAh battery, measured 8.4 mm, and weighed 190 grams.

The display has 3 500 nits, and the chip can score over a million points in AnTuTu

The phone has a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED with 1.5K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, and a peak brightness of 3 500 nits. For gaming, it can sample touch input up to 3,200 times per second, and it also has Wet Touch 2.0, meaning you can use it with wet fingers. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Inside, there is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, which POCO says should break the million-point barrier in AnTuTu. Memory comes in 8 to 12 GB of LPDDR5X, and storage is 128 or 256 GB — note that the base version uses the slower UFS 2.2, while the higher configurations got UFS 4.1. The camera setup includes a 50 MP main sensor with optical stabilization, an 8 MP ultrawide, and a 32 MP front camera.

Four protection ratings and six years of patches

Durability is the second big selling point of this model. POCO lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K all at once — the last one means resistance to high-pressure hot water, which is a certification you almost never see in this price range. On the software side, it runs HyperOS 3 on Android 16 with four major updates and six years of security patches.

When and for how much

Sales of the X8 Power in India start on 11 September on Flipkart, at the equivalent of about $350 after applying the coupon and bank discount. Global availability is not yet confirmed, and that is the biggest question mark with this model — Indian POCO phones reach Europe irregularly, and sometimes with different specs, as shown by the battery difference on the regular X8.
